I’ll write you a poem

Blog

Two posts in one day.

Get her!

Ok, I’m trying to get the creative juices flowing here.

 So I’ve had an idea.

I write daft poems.

Napoleon Fantastic and I are working on a book together as he writes daft poems too.

So I’m up for a challenge a la Bobby Darin…

‘”Splish Splash” was written with DJ Murray the K who bet that Darin could not write a song that started out with the words, “Splish Splash, I was takin’ a bath”,’

Get the idea?

Give me a subject/first line and I will produce an ode.

I’m not promising it will be any good.

I’m not promising you’ll like it.

But I promise I’ll do it, unless it’s completely unsavoury or inappropriate or illegal.

Anyone up for it?

Go on, it’ll be fun…

Here’s one I made earlier.

The fabulous ‘Two Write Hands’ is already doing something similar on her site, so I have challenged her to write a poem about catnip, and I’ve written one for her too.

Here is mine…

Sometimes my cat nips.
He isn’t really cruel
It’s just he yearns for catnip
Although it makes him drool

It makes him go all bendy,
And wriggle on his tum.
Apparently this is because it pleasantly stimulates his pheromonic receptors…
But he just thinks it’s yum.

Two posts! It must be a rainy day!

I have a challenge for your poetry blogging. Here is an opening line for you:

    ‘Slush, mush, there’s rain outside.’

The rest is up to you.

Hope you are up for it.

    Here you go Ingenius.
    Well, I tried…

    Slush, mush there’s rain outside
I fell in a puddle and injured my pride
    My pants were all sodden
    My hair was all wet
    I trod on a goldfish
    We may need a vet…

    Hi Jo!

Another cat related ode please! Auto-biographical today, I’m afraid… See what you can do with this,

    Oh yuck, there’s a mouse’s giblets

    Here you go Mya.
This isn’t too bad when you consider that for the past 10 minutes I’ve been getting bashed on the head by a 2 year old sporting a hand shaped fly swatter – kids!

    Not Amewsed…

Oh yuck there’s a mouses giblets.
I meant to put them in the fridge.
Now they’re going to be all dry and crusty.
    Instead of their usual squidge.

And where did I put all those fish scales?
I had hoped to mosaic my bath.
It’s so hard keeping up with the neigbours
When your owner keeps thwarting your path.

Ok, it needs work but I might come back to it.

Below is another poem I wrote about a year ago for a book which Napoleon Fantastic and I are now hoping to find a publisher for.

It’s called ‘Peoms for Punky Pets’.
I thought it might also appeal to you if you like cats.

    A Cat’s Lament…

Pray think when you name your new kitten
Of what may occur in the yard
For naming your little cat Fluffy
Makes other cats think he’s not hard.

So when he comes in looking tattered
With whiskers all wonky and bent
All ragged and battered with fur that’s all matted
It’s your fault you git, so relent.

Do not call your Siamese Fifi
It’ll give those mean moggies a buzz
And by God if you call your cat Tiddles
Then don’t be surprised if he does

(By Petal, a rather large one eyed Tom)

Bravo! Love it! And the second one too. Our cat is called Edwina Scissorhands and nobody messes with her – not even me.

    Thanks Mya.

Edwina Scissorhands looks gorgeous and it’s good for a girl to be a bit feisty.

My old cat Myron died a few months ago and we can’t have another as my brother has developed a serious allergy to them.

    I do miss him though.

We have gerbils but it’s just not the same.
