Alright, I lied.
I recently left a comment on Susan as Herself’s ‘Drink up and Dance Post’ saying we don’t really get extreme weather in the UK, especially in Nottinghamshire where La Famille Beaufoix hail from.
Well today we have torrential rain, and yesterday we had torrential rain, infact we’ve had torrential rain for well over a week now.
“The problem is just surface water running off roads and land and the drains can’t cope.”
according to Kevin Bolton of the Environment Agency.
No Kev, the problem is the rain.
But it has its good points.
For the first time ever in my 32 years I have witnessed hunky fireman blocking off a road and pumping away a veritable river of water.
It was quite a sight.
We were stuck in the traffic that was being slowly turned around, so got to watch for a while.
I know for many this will have been an extremely stressful and costly occassion, what with being late for work, having drowned cars, bad hair and wet feet etc.,
And we ourselves haven’t escaped unharmed as Miss E’s bedroom window and ceiling are leaking so she maybe spending the night in bed with us. (Most unfortunate as she sleeps like a starfish most of the time.)
But, ahhh the firemen.
You gotta love a man in uniform.
(Sorry if this seems a bit sexist to some of you out there, but I’m sure if there’d been a bevy of babes in swimming costumes floating around on lilos sipping Pina Coladas, I’m sure you’d have all seen it as noteworthy too.)

Ms Beaufoix! I didn’t know you went for a man in uniform. I suppose you are right, the wet weather does have it’s positive points.
I do fear however that you have jinxed the county by saying Nottinghamshire does not get extreme weather. It is all your fault. Oh dear Ms Beaufoix.
