“Mummy, mummy, come and see what I’ve done”
That was Miss E hailing me at 10 o’clock last night.
I’m just having a quick game of Pirates on Facebook while Mr B makes a cuppa (rock and roll).
“E, you should be asleep babe” I say as I march up the stairs, smiling with anticipation. What is it that has led my 7 year old to call me up to her room at this hour?
Has she tidied it?
Drawn me a picture?
Actually put her clothes in the wash basket?
I’m kind of hoping for the first one as her room is generally a bit of a sty.
In fact, a lot of a sty.
Every so often we do a big tidy together and fill a couple of black bags.
I sometimes think she lets it get so messy just so we can do the big tidy together…
Anyway, I’m at her door.
The excitement is so intense you can smell it.
(It kind of smells a bit like babywipes.)
Miss E: “Are you ready.”
Her eyes are sparkling and she has this big cheesy grin all over her 7 year old gap-toothed little face..
Miss E: “Close your eyes.”
She leads me into the room by the hand.
Me: “Ouch.”
I quickly realise that it’s not a room tidy situation as I rub my foot.
Miss E: “It’s brilliant mummy. It took me ages.”
Me: “Ohhh what is it? What is it?”
She takes a deep breath then climbs up on her midi-sleeper and pulls my hands from my eyes…
Miss E: “Da daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.”
….I am SO proud.

Wow, my kid just builds with blocks! You should be proud, Jo. I think it’s even cooler that she wanted to share it with you. Even if it was late at night. How do you play Pirates on Facebook? I’m on Facebook, and I dont’ think we’ve ever donw that. What is it?

You’d better hope she doesn’t try that with the slugs.

Jen, email me your facebook name and I’ll add you as a friend and bomb you.
That’s how I joined.
It’s oddly addictive and you get to bomb people and steal their coins and pillage villages.
It’s fun, honest.
Akelamalu I might have to take her to a gym class to avoid any circus shenanigans.
Jolene, talent indeed. I am so proud. She thought it was so cool and funny.
Leendaluu we don’t really have many cheerleaders in the UK but she has got a fancy dress cheerleading outfit and loves High School Musical so you never know…
Alasdair I know it’s you who wants the Barbie.
The lass is far too young. I bet Jolene will get you one for Christmas now.
I may suggest it to her.
RC, gross. Can you imagine it with slugs? eurghh. They’d probably be quite good though ‘cos they’d stick together…
Bubblewench welcome and thanks. I see a long future of Barbie doll balancing ahead of her.
Cami it’s inspired isn’t it. LOL.

OK. My favorite part of that is Ken’s head lodged up Barbie’s evening gown.
Well done, E.
August 28th, 2007 at 11:34 pm
Wow, quite an impressive feat!
August 29th, 2007 at 1:53 am
That’s amazing, all she needs now is to get Ken a motorbike for a mobile balancing act.

Susan I know, that bit is hilarious. LOL.
Absolutely Bananas I too was impressed. I bet you could add yourself to the pyramid with your photoshop skills.
21st Century Mummy, wow, a motorbike, what a fantastic idea.
My mum has an old Barbie scooter of ours at her house but that would be too cheesy right?
Hmmm, wonder if action men have motorbikes now…

Priceless.
And congrats on your wedding anniversary. What band(s) did your man play in?
August 29th, 2007 at 10:18 am
Thanks Dumdad.
The bands are b-movie, Slaughterhouse 5, and Enormous, amongst others.
B-movie did quite well in the 80s, hence a few tours and Peel sessions.
Slaughterhouse 5 were on IRS EMI and had an album out in America in the 90s but then IRS EMI folded and they were dropped. They were fab though.
Enormous is the latest incarnation and I think they’re really good.
They haven’t found fame and fortune yet but they make fantastic music and have had some good music press etc.
