She loves me

Blog

Today Miss M told me she loved me.

I nearly cried.

You see, she always says it back it when we say it to her.

And she says it out of habit when she’s saying bye bye to people,

Miss M: “Bye bye, yuv you.”

But I don’t think she’s ever just said it by herself, in a quiet moment, unprompted.

It’s the best thing in the world.

She’s sitting on my knee.

She finishes her yogurt and snuggles her yogurty chops into my chest and says,

Miss M: “I luff you Mummy.”

Have you melted?

Probably not, I mean, she’s not your kid right?

But I am a soggy watery mess on the floor.

Careful, don’t slip on me.

And she said ‘love’ not ‘yuv’, well kind of.

Big sighhhhhhhhhhhhh.

**********************************************

If that doesn’t melt you then this will….

Either that or you’ll throw up.

Sorry.

I know it was my idea.

I know I asked for this, but, well, it kind of didn’t happen tonight.

But writers are meant to just plod on aren’t they??

Ode to Barbara

Some people have a hound dog
Some people have a cat
Some people have a parrot
or oftentimes a bat

Some people have a lizard
Some people have a mouse
But I’ve a lovely Ostrich
To brighten up the house

She doesn’t steal the fireside
She doesn’t nick our food
But she often bites my butt cheeks
When she’s in a narky mood

I know, I know, it’s from the big old ladies pants school of poetry…

But the lovely Jen challenged me and she’s right, Barbara needs luuuurve.

And hey, who couldn’t love that face?

Jo, I just love your blog! Always something fresh and new.

I also turn to much when I hear I love you. I can’t think of anything I’d rather hear. For a while my Punkin was telling me I was his best friend (and yes, it got it’s own sappy blog post!), which made me melt too, but not quite like I love you does.

I’m lucky that my little boy is still into snuggling with his Mum because so many of my friends little boys have stopped. I don’t know what I’ll do when he does. He just better not do it!

By the way, I just love the opportunity to say Mum, without people looking at me funny. We really should start using Mum on this side of the pond!

Loved the monkey nuts poem, even though I don’t know what monkey nuts are (I don’t think I do, anyway). And I love your Miss M.

But I love Barbara’s eyelashes most of all.

Oh bless Miss M. Do record it again for prosperity. The other day I was playing with my phone and noticed a few audio clips from three years ago, which I’d made when the phone was new and I was testing out the gadgets. Imagine my glee, when I heard a little voice saying “Love you mummy, love you”. It was my eldest who was just three at the time and what’s great is to have a real reminder of how he sounded those few years ago…just like his younger brother does now! ;-D

I remember the first time TFYO told me she loved me. She’d said it to her dadf already, countless times. She’s a daddy’s girl. She finally said it to me. I melted, too. Then she asked me for a cookie.

I love your Ode to Barbara, and I’m pleased at my teeny tiny part in it. I marvel at your abilities, Jo.

A story like that makes my eyes well up. I think Jen has touched on something – Miss M might tell you she loves you and then ask for sweeties! The nicest thing my two-year-olds did when they were two was sing happy birthday to me. Oh, that melted my heart. I think what I like most about reading your blog is how much you adore your girls. It always makes me smile.

Englishmum thanks and I’ll be over in a bit. I coudn’t leave a comment earlier, my PC went a bit doo lally tap.
V excited about the bling and the new odes.

Blue Momma thanks for the lovely compliments.
Love you’s and snuggles are the best parts of being a mummy aren’t they.

    Cami, I totally agree.

Corey, I take a few of the pictures (you can probably tell which) but the really cool ones like the hearts above and theostrich come from here…

    I love it.

Hee hee thanks PixelPi. Monkey Nuts are another name for peanuts. I have no idea why??

And Barbara’s eye lashes are just stunning aren’t they.

21st CM that is so cute. I must record her. Miss E’s voice has changed so much since she was tiny, and in such a few short years, so I know that baby cuteness will be gone soon.
    It goes too fast.

Jen you are a sweetie. I’m sure the day wil come when the love goes with cookies, but that moment was perfect. I love blogging as it’s such a good way to remember these things. I wish I’d done it when Miss E was little.

Bananas, I love my little peanuts.

Mrs Weasley you always write such lovely comments. I love that my girls bring back memories for you, and that you still have such joy from your kids.
They’re our babies whatever age they are aren’t they.
    :-)

Yep I melted too! It’s just the most wonderful feeling in the world when they say I love you off their own bat – that’s when it means something! x
