Miss M’s dream

Blog

Miss M has been having a few nightmares lately. I think it’s her age, you know, her imagination is developing and she remembers stuff more. She’s woken up crying a few times.

So, when she calls out for me at 5.40 this morning I assume we’re off again…

I walk into her room and she’s sat up in bed, covers pulled up under her arms,

…smiling.

She looks awake, perky and happy, while mummy is yawning, misty eyed and bedraggled.

Miss M: “I luff dat tractor mummy.”

I look at her, blink, shake my head trying to clear out the remnants of sleep that appear to have affected my hearing…

Me: “What was that babe?”

Miss M: “I luff dat tractor.”

I look at her, thinking, tractor?
We read about Pooh Bear last night, and I’m pretty sure there are no tractors in the hundred acre wood..

…unless rabbit has planned on turning his carrot patch into a small market garden, or has sold it off to a developer for vast amounts of money so they will create open plan condos with large doors that small honey loving bears will never be able to get stuck in, and with plenty of ceiling height for rare tigers to bounce up and down in without fear of bashing their bonces.

Me: “Did you have a dream M?”

Miss M: “Yes, an I love dat tractor and it orange.”

Me: “Ooooo, it sounds lovely.”

Miss M: “Yes, an my did drive it, de orange tractor.”

Me: “Did you?”

She nods happily.

I sit down and smile at her upturned face as she stares somewhere over my shoulder where she can see a tiny girl on an orange tractor driving along the road.

Me: “Wooooow M, where did you go?”

Miss M: “My ride to Granma’s. My driving.”

Me: “And what did Grandma say?”

Miss M: She not on a tractor. She on a bustrain.”

Me: “A bustrain???

Miss M: “A BUS TRAIN Mummy.”

Me: “Wow. That was a lovely dream wasn’t it?”

She nods, then climbs out of her bed and follows me back into my room and climbs in to bed between me and Mr B.

We put Milkshake on and she snuggles down, then turns to me smiling and says quietly,

Miss M: “My love dat tractor Mummy. An Granma can go on it. But she can’t take it home. ”

Miss Beaufoix – a stern word in your ear from a good friend – what have we said about posting pictures of your children on the web? Don’t do it.

Yes she is gorgeous and cute, that is why you don’t post photos of her on your blog. Naughty naughty lady. Off to the naughty step you go. What would you do without Ingenious Bosspants checking up on you? You weren’t posting after a glass or two of wine were you?!!

Oh, Miss M is SO cute!! I love checking in on what her latest adventures are because they are more fun that the Hundred Acre Wood to be sure! I love that you are treasuring these moments; I know it is trite, but it is also true, they do grow up so fast.

Please tell Miss M that we have one just like the one in the bottom picture..more red than orange but nevermind.

Tell her that she can have a ride when her Mummy brings her down to visit us :)

I loved this post although you must have taken down the photo before I got to your site. I know the temptation of posting pix of one’s kids.

Oh, and I loved the earlier Daddy Long Feet!

Have you taken her to the White Posts Farm Centre near you? They have real Massey Ferguson (orange/red) tractors, that you can actually sit on. Oh the excitement! Sprog loved it.

Cablegirl, thanks sweetie. And your aughing baby is also adorable.

Mrs Weasley they do grow so fast don’t they?
I would really love them to stay where they are right now, but then I’d miss out on seeing how they turn out and I can’t wait for that too. Well, ok, I can wait, it’s just exciting, but there’s plenty of time. :)

MGLady, she would be in awe. She loves tractors. It’s so funny isn’t it? :D

Rebecca you’re right, it’s like you’re coming out of the fog and there’s a huge, neverending mug of cocoa waiting for you.

Dumdad, thank you dear, and it is so tempting to post pics isn’t it, but Ingenious and I agreed that it might be a good idea not to. I think I needed reminding.
It all feels so intimate when you know the people who comment regularly, you forget it’s actually a completely open forum sometimes.

Mya, we loooooove Whitepost Farm. We have our membership so we can get in a little cheaper and we have spent many birthdays there.
It’s fab as there’s stuff both my girls can enjoy, and mummy and Daddy too.
My friend’s little boy goes to day nursery there so they have special access to the farm. It’s fab.

21stCM, thanks sweetie. I bet your boys are just the same. I wish I’d done this with Miss E when she was so smal as there’s so much you forget and with M it’s all here in writing.
