The fantabulous Walks Far Woman who is having a little break at the moment but I hope will be feeling much better soon, tagged me with this some time during Bert, and I started it, then kind of got sucked into word counts etc. But Cami has tagged me now too, so I thought I’d best get it done.

8 things I want to do before I die:
- Have at least one book published.
- Feel comfortable in a swimsuit.
- Visit my friends, Ju, Dave and Breeze in New Zealand (Love you loads you lot.)
- Swim with dolphins I know, everyone wants to do this, but I really, really do. I don’t want to give birth with them or anything. That’s just weird. But I’d love to swim near them and feel their power and calmness. It would be such a privilege.
- Be able to go shopping and not have to think about how much I can spend (i.e. Be a tiny bit rich.)
- See elephants, lion etc in their natural habitat.
- Have a tidy house.
- Meet Vic Reeves, Bob Mortimer, Stephen Fry, Alan Davies and Billy Bailey and shake their hands because they make me giggle
8 things I say often
- “Bugger.”
- “No way.”
- “Oh my God.”
- “It’s on the side next to the cooker.”
- “Put that down.”
- “Don’t touch.”
- “How rude.”
- “Noooooooooooo.”
8 Books I’ve read recently (or am still reading):
The Memory Keepers Daughter – Kim Edwards (Bit disappointed with the end.)
Panic – Jeff Abbott (Ok. Didn’t love it. Didn’t hate it.)
Shantaram – Gregory David Roberts (Loving this but taking it slow. It’s one of those books that you kind of read chapter by chapter, mulling things over a little at a time in between readings. I love the imagery, humour and candour. It really feels like a taste of India.)
The Girls – Lori Lansens (Really well written and believable. Sad, but not as sad as I thought it might be.)
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – J K Rowling (Loved it.)
Last Known Victim – Erica Spindler (Not bad. But I’ve enjoyed others by her more.)
8 Songs I Could Listen to Over and Over
Norah Jones – What am I to you?
Amy Winehouse – Back to Black
Blondie – Picture This
Libertines – I no longer hear the music
Pulp – Disco 2000
Nat King Cole – Unforgettable
Elvis Costello – Alison
David Bowie – Starman
8 Things that Attract Me to My Best Friends:
They are so funny
We have the same sense of humour, i.e. daft.
They are the best listeners
Intelligent and interesting
A lot of my friends are very creative and look at life differently which I love.
They accept me for me and are very open minded and none judgemental.
They like my kids, even when they are being bratty.
They don’t laugh at my hair
8 People I Think Should Do Crazy Eights:
Corey
Jen
Leendaluu
Akelamalu
Mya
Bellevelma
Belle
Ingenious Rose
Rc I would have tagged you too but I have a feeling you may have done this one…
Now, as usual with me, no pressure on the meme front. If you like it, do it, if you don’t, don’t worry.
Oh, and Miss M shared a little something with me today.
Miss M: “Mummy. You got a big massive mummy bum bum.”
Me: (Giggling) “You shouldn’t say that to ladies M. It might make them feel silly, hee hee hee ha ha ha.”
Hmmm, remind me to teach M some other words for small. Her vocabulary seems to be growing in a certain direction. Or is that my behind??

P.s. A big thank you from my mum for all your get well messages. She’s loads better and it made her smile to read them all. Thanks. You’re all fab.
P.P.S. Cami, thanks you so much for the ‘I got Skillz Award.’ I will pass it on soon. I promise. It is beautiful.

Somehow I doubt your bottom looks like the elephant’s. My sister teaches nursery school and one day a boy said to her that he lover her thighs. She was very curious about this and asked him what he loved about them. He replied that they were so big and mushy! She said only a four year old boy could say that and get away with it. Oh, kids are so cute!

Enjoyed your 8s and thanks for the tag but I’ve already done this one
) I did it when you were lost in the midst of Bert but as you’d expect of all with good taste, Elvis Costello featured on my list too!

I don’t do memes but I quite enjoy reading them!
Thanks again for introducing me to Harry Graham. I looked him up (god bless google) and see he published a book entitled Ruthless Ryhmes for Heartless Homes in about 1901. A sort of Ogden Nash with attitude.
Here’s one with a French theme that amused me:
Weep not for little Leonie,
Abducted by a French Marquis!
Though loss of honour was a wrench,
Just think how it’s improved her French.
Bon weekend!

Holly, Eddie Izzard nearly made the list too, and Harry Hill, but I thought I had to stop somewhere. Maybe I should have just done eight.
Mrs Weasley, kids can get away with so much stuff because they make you laugh can’t they. I love that comment to your sister. Hee hee.
Belle, ah well. I will have to come read yours. And Elvis Costello is just amazing. I would love to see him live.
Dumdad I have that book, or a version of it. It was reprinted in 1996 by Past Times. There are some gems in there. It’s just called Ruthless Rhymes for the reprint.
Glad you liked it.

Loved your lists of 8. Alison is one of my very favorite songs in the whole wide world. Love love love it.
I never actually got tagged for this one, so I may steal it and run with it.
And we all know your bum doesn’t look a thing like that. Kids. You’ve gotta love ‘em.

Great list for getting to know you better. It’s always nice to see some similarities (I wanna swim with the dolphins, too, and don’t care if it’s on EVERYONE’S list (poor dolphins, I wonder if they wanna swim with us?) and I love me some Norah and Nat, and you can’t be my friend if you don’t have a good sense of humor).
Here to catch up on Fun Monday, reading on my way down

So good to hear your Mum is feeling better!
Those are great 8’s. I’ll have a go at it but I can’t say when.
December 7th, 2007 at 12:14 pm
Ooooo I like the look of this one. Perfect! I’ll have a go.
I looked at the 8 things you would like to do before you die Jo (now there’s a horrible thought) and thought it all looked quite manageable, but then I saw the ‘Have a tidy house’ one and thought NOOOOOO! NOT POSSIBLE!!!!!!!! But then if you were a little bit rich you could get someone to help you! He he!
December 7th, 2007 at 12:16 pm
Hi again Jo, I forgot to say that I have somehow managed to put Elvis is a blog title, as well as Elvis, Mary and Joseph in the same post! You will have to visit my new exciting http://www.parentingissues.com site to see.
Plug, plug, plug!!!!!

Oh RC, I am so sorry sweet. Tag, you are it.
Robin, you know, I think I’d only want to swim with a wild dolphin. That way you now it’s their choice right?
Akela, no pressure. And thanks for thinking of my mum. You are so lovely.
IG, hee hee hee. You can only get away with that comment as your house is just like mine. x
And that post sounds fab. Elvis, Mary and Joseph. Hee hee.
