Blog

David McMahon’s Weekend Wandering question a few weeks back was: What was the best Christmas present you ever received?

As usual, if you’d like to answer this on your own blog link back to his weekend wandering post to let him know, or pop over there and see the party he had yesterday. It was fab.

Well.

This year, Ingenious Rose and I decided to just buy for the kids as we are both pretty brassic.

Then I saw Mullet Power and had to buy it for her, and all my buddies.
It cost less than £3.00 so it didn’t break the bank, and it is truly amazing. I love it.

So, Ingeniuous decided that she would like to buy a little something for me in return.
But, it had to be £3.00 or less, and, well, ingenious…

When I opened my gift on Christmas morning I knew it would make me smile. She’s not called Ingenious for nothing you know.

I know it came from a charity shop.

And I know that she laughed so much when she was buying it that the shop assistants were a little alarmed.

I know this because she phoned me immediately after buying it because she was so excited. She could barely speak for laughing.

So what was my gift?

Are you ready???

Isn’t it fabulous?

Hee hee. Don’t you wish Ingenious was your friend too??

And look, it was such a bargain.

No offense to people who knit, but I am pants at anything like that. I can just about sew on a button.

But next year?

Oh next year Ingenious will be getting knitted goods for Christmas.

Oh Jo it’s fabulous! What a lovely and thoughtful present from your lovely friend. I suspect she is still laughing away to herself and feeling very proud of her wonderful choice of gift. Quite ingenious I think!!!

I am so glad I am not the only person who can’t knit. I couldn’t knit to save my life.

Do I dare ask what Mullet Power is? And I’ll bet you could knit, if you wanted to. If I can do it ANYONE can.

It’s very zen. I like it.

I can’t knit for beans… try as my mother did to make it catch my interest… sigh.

Imagine if you made everyone knitted berets next year.

Oooo…nifty! I’m rotten at knitting, but I crochet quite lovely-ly. Don’t give up on yarn if knitting isn’t kind, alright? And hey, what a sweet friend!

Well, now, that looks like a dandy gift! (Not that I’d want something like that, but it’s the thought that counts, right?) Enjoy!

the day i knit is the day nintendo has a game that does it for you.

but i can’t wait to see your concoctions! i think, traditionally, scarves are the first item. but i think you could handle a cher outfit, (or the latest kylie xfactor one – did you sEE that?! what the?) if you put your mind to it.

I agree with Holly, you COULD manage a Cher or Kylie outfit, they seem to have very little material and lots of holes!

(Holly, I am also wondering what Kylie’s outfit was all about!)

Just catching up on all the blogs I haven’t read over Christmas, and the week before. Glad you are still here to make my days a little more fun! I can’t knit either, but the fifteen year old girl can, and my mother can, too. Skips a generation I guess. After reading about Boxing Day I now know why the director of my department at work said he didn’t expect anyone to come in on December 26th! He’s British.

Momo, I will try and make an Afghan. It may turn out more like a beermat though. :D

Ingenious, I may knit you some nice sandals with it. Or a pretty woollen thing for your hair, or, erm, a little rat outfit for the rat I’m going to buy for IJ next year. Mwah ha ha ha haaaa.

Akela, anything is possible. Hee hee.

Cami, I could maybe string together a rope ladder if it would save my life, or a lasso, but something knitted?? I think not.

RC, I just might give it a go. And Mullet Power is like Top Trumps. You know, the card game where you categories and numbers and the aim is to win all the other players cards by beating their scores in the category they choose. It’s very cheesy but funny, and it beats playing Miss E’s Bratz, or High School Musical ones.

Susan, knitted berets might be ok, but I reckon scarves are probably easier. Or I could just knit people handkerchiefs. They’d just need to be small and square right??

Kimberley, I always think crochet looks great. And she is a fab friend. :D

Avery, it was bought with love and a little bit of wickedness hee hee. It really made me laugh.

Corey, I bet you knit fab things.

Kitten, thanks. I love a good bargain, me. Happy 2008 to you too. :D

Holly, do you mean the kind of black lace legging things that she wore? They were bad. I bet I could knit something nicer. And I would love one of those nintendos. Maybe I could knit one…
