Can’t stop long.
Have to sleep.
We have been to see the great Lord of flat packed furniture today, and he bestowed on us a wardrobe, a bookcase and some Ikea underpants (?).
No really. We had to buy them just to see what they were like. Here is the box.
You’d think they’d have gone the whole hog and missed out the ‘j’.
That would have been so much more appropriate as they will contain, erm, nuts, and are probably only bought by nutters.
NB. Mr B added them to the trolley. Not me. I wondered aloud at the strangeness of them, but it was Mr B who just had to see what they were like.
You want to see what they are like now too don’t you?
Well may it never be said that Jo Beaufoix does not share.
Hee hee.
Did you ever see anything that shape before??
Anyway, we have just finished the bookcase. The wardrobe was completed just before Miss E went to bed.
On seeing it as a work in progress Miss M remarked,
Miss M: “Daddy, dat horedrobe is wonderful.”
So what she will say when she sees the completed version I can only imagine…………
…….Miss M: “Daddy. Dat horedrobe is remarkable. It is a vision in mock birch. Never have I seen such finely crafted little wooden feet. And the doors even hang straight. Wow Daddy. I can see just why Mummy picked you. If Ikea is the Lord of flat pack, well you must be the erm, Marquis or something.”
So, we are done in. The bookcase stands beside me ready to be moved into place and hopefully filled with jigsaws, board games and books tomorrow. Santa has done his bit for consumerism in forcing us to buy more storage items,as well as some strange pants, a couple of light bulbs and a frying pan.
And, wemanaged to resist the furry, huggable WOODLICE again.
Yes, I said woodlice.
Does anyone else have them in their Ikea?
Holly, do you have cuddly woodlice in your Ikea? I mean, we get the same things from Schmesco right?
Do You have the weird ugly soft insect fluffy toy?
I so wish I had taken a camera, but well, I suppose they look like this…

..but fluffy.
You’d buy one right?
What’s not to love?
Ok. I’m kidding.
Furry Woodlice.
Why?

Umm…my brain stalled over the furry woodlice. We had them where I grew up. Never, ever, even in my critter loving-ness, did I ever want to cuddle one.
Ugh.

Did Mr. B. mess up and put the bottom of the bookshelf on the top like my husband did? And did he not notice until he was bolting it to the wall? And did he then offer to take it apart and put it back together correctly? But it was already bolted in place and that just seemed like too much work so you said leave it alone and why do you always screw this up? We have 8 of these bookshelves now and you’ve done it to 4 or maybe 5 of them… How hard is it to follow Ikea directions?
Or is that just us? Because I swear it just happened to us 2 days ago. Again.
Anyway… nice underpants!

Kim, they are so grim. I must visit Ikea soon and take a picture. You all need to see them.
Belle, he actually did surprisingly well. He screwed a couple of shelves in before realizing he has had the side on the wrong way round, but once that was sorted it was all jim dandy.
Cami, that’s why we had to buy them. They look like they’re slightly high leg which makes me laugh, but they don’t look too bad on, if a little baggy…
Corey, they look surprisingly ok-ish. Not in a ‘take me to bed’ kind of way, but in a comfy kind of way. He won’t let me take photos though.
Dumdad, it is a little sad isn’t it? But you want a fluffy woodlouse now don’t you? I can tell.
21st CM, what about a fluffy woodlouse wearing those underpants?? That would be scary.
Belle, toasted woodlice?? I’m a bit scared now, hee hee. And he won’t let me take a pic of him in his pants, though he did let me take a picture of him wearing a woolly hat with a large pair of gloves dangling from either side like spaniel ears. What a guy.
Akela, next time I go I may have to buy one and do another competition. It would make an interesting prize…

how did i miss this with as much as i stalk your blog? i blame the children. always blame the children.
anyway…
wood lice?!?!
oh god no i don’t recall seeing wood lice at either ikea or schmesco, and i am really bug sensitive, having spent 5 cockroach-infested years in honolulu. there is something (piece of dust?) on my eyeball that i keep mistaking for a stray bug. yeah, it’s fun to watch me sometimes…
now i’m on the lookout, though!
man, first the spiders, now this.
wait, you have a snail thingie, too. maybe it’s just up your way, love… are you living in a creepy crawly haven?
