Hey you lot.
This is me, the real me, not the pre-written, pre-op’ me, so forgive me if I’m a bit squiffy.

I just read through all your comments and you made me laugh, (ouch) cry and, well, burp actually. Apparently that’s down to all the gas they pump into you during keyhole surgery, in fact, the gale warnings in the UK at the moment are possibly all down to me and my wayward emissions.
I am still quite sore and sleepy so I won’t be making the rounds yet, but I always find blogging in a kind of ‘drunken’ state is fun so I’ll keep going a bit longer.
It’s funny, but when you’re resting up after an op’ you tend to watch so much more crappy stuff on the telly, as the act of engaging mentally in an activity is still pretty much beyond me for any real length of time, but one thing I couldn’t help but notice is the news headlines at the moment and it made me sad and angry.
Yes, Prince Harry is newsworthy in some sense, but the free paper in the hospital, the ‘Daily Ma*l’ (I refuse to write its full name and I’m allowed to do that as I have five holes in my body that weren’t there before), was almost half filled with news on Harry’s exploits, but there was nothing, no nothing on the story we should all be following at the moment,

Dewsbury’s 9 year old ‘Shannon Matthews disappeared on her way home last Tuesday. She had just returned from a school swimming trip and was carrying her costume in a bag.
Friends and neighbours have been distributing leaflets appealing for information about Shannon’s whereabouts across West Yorkshire.
Shannon is described as timid and is white, around 4ft 1in and slim, with shoulder-length, medium-brown hair, which may have been tied up in a ponytail.
She was dressed in a black jumper with a school logo, a white cotton T-shirt, black trousers and a waist-length black coat with fur round the hood.
She was also wearing distinctive pink and grey ‘Bratz’ furry boots.
:: Anyone with information is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police on 01274 373737 or by text on 07786 200806 or, alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.’
This is where our thoughts and our eyes and our focus should be. It should be front page news. She could be out there now. We live in a relatively small country, she may be near by so we should all be vigilant and remember that little face. Please let’s not forget her and her family.

You are absolutely right Jo, I agree with you totally. The media are showing little interest in this story and sadly it seems to because the family do not have the financial resources to keep it in the headlines. This is wrong on so many levels. However, you cannot save the whole world by yourself so now rest and think nice positive thoughts. You need to be well and happy for your gorgeous little girls. Well done for the post.

For someone feeling squiffy that was a fab post, Jo. Such a good point to be making. I wish common sense were more common.

yes, your posts post-op make more sense than any of mine do like EVER.
love the hair. love it. it suits you. i’m thinking of having my hair done that way. but mine will simply not hold a curl. my hair is so curl-less that merely being in the same room with me will straighten *your* hair.
okay i’ll stop that. yes, we should *not* think of the daily meh, and we should think of this little gal. if i see her tomorrow i’m going to say “hey, honey, let’s get you home.” but that’s after i say “why are you in cardiff, in an audit office? that’s a bit weird.” okay, so i will stroll at lunch time. if she’s downtown cardiff, i’m on it.
and what the heck is squiffy?

Wish I wasn’t across this dang lake, and I would hunt for her myself.
I wish you a speedy recovery.
