Miss E and Miss M go to a catholic school.
It’s a good school. My brothers went there. My mum taught there. It’s family, but it was still a tough decision to send them there as although I was brought up Catholic, I don’t go to church much anymore.
I still have a faith though, but it is mine, between me and a kind and loving God who understands that I am a bit crappy at times.
Like the times when my 3 year old says the prayers she has learnt in nursery and I do not correct things like this…
Miss M: In de name of de father, and of de son, and of de homely ferret. Amen.
Snort.
I did correct her once and said, “It’s ’spirit’ babe.”
But then we got, “And of de spirit ferret, Amen.”

So I gave up.
Anyway, I like the idea of a homely ferret rather than a ghostly one. I bet it bakes cakes and stuff…or bread.
And this was Miss M last night;
She drifted off to sleep after a little, erm, light reading.

That is so sweet but funny I’m having a little chuckle to myself
That knocks spots off the more traditional ‘Harold be thy name’
My two used to say ‘Our father who art in Hull’ which confused them a lot because my dad really does live in Hull …
That is quite possibly the cutest thing I’ve ever heard.
I was not raised Catholic (in fact it skeeves me out quite a bit!), but my kid also goes to Catholic school. She makes us pray before we eat and she does the sign of the cross, too! I let her, but it kinda bugs me!
Ferrets are sneaky little things - I’d find it hard to believe there’s one with a halo!
Chris, it made us laugh so much. ;D
Belle, we did ‘thanks Peter’ God. I love it when they get it wrong in such a cute way.
Maria, I will never forget it, hee hee.
Sybil, it’s so hard, in that there is so much I was taught at school that wasn’t good, but it’s changed so much now, and I’ll be keeping my ear to the ground, especially when they do sex Ed. and ethics etc.
Miss M just bursts into prayer anywhere at the minute as we don’t really do it often at home. She says ‘Oh my Gosh’ instead of ‘oh my God’. That makes me smile too. I am soooo bad.
Jo, yesterday I went to church with a friend who gave me a book for children, all about the mysteries of the rosary. Oh the pictures are so beautiful! I like Catholic kids’ books. Miss M has good taste. xx
Homely Ferret? That made me laugh out loud. What a cutie (your daughter, not the haloed ferret
Homely ferret! LOL! I love it.
I love me some homely ferrets.
so cute with the halo.

oh and look at dear sweet Miss M. such a little book bed bug.
Thank you for your really nice comment on my blog today. I really appreciated it.
Hee hee…I wouldn’t correct Emma either. Every night she prays and thanks Heavenly Father for bringing everyone home safe, and she lists them in order of who her favourite is. If one of us scolds her shortly before prayers? We get moved to the bottom of the list. Ah, the faith of a child, eh?
homely ferret… I’m dying here. I’m so glad I had just swallowed my drink of water or it would have been ALL OVER MY LAP TOP.
I think the homely ferret prayer is the best prayer I have ever heard. I am going to start praying to the homely ferret every day.
It can’t hurt.
i’m so glad it’s the children’s version - a real one would really hurt her. cartoon jesus is the best. sometimes, when we are not looking, he goes over to the richie rich comics and hangs out. they talk about money. richie rich buys jesus a hamburger. made of gold.
don’t worry, jesus gets a giggle out of me saying these kind of things.
i’m not getting into *heaven*, but he will laugh with me. he’s cool like that.
Hi Jo, thank you for coming over to my blog and leaving such encouraging comments. I do appreciate them very much. I could do with a little miss M sleeping under a bible book and a little holy ferret. Do you rent them out at all?
Okay, I’ve laughed till I’m sick what in heavens name are you trying to do to me? Yeah, I’m a lapsed Catholic, too…I figure God knows I’m talking to Him and not the ghostly ferret, right? Great post…makes me sort of wish my adult children were little again but then I come to my senses and get over that pretty quickly.
Sandi
Des, I think I was at yours when you were at mine. The pictures in the books are cute and much more palatable than some of the books when I was younger.
Groovy mum, me too.
Corey, it’s a pleasure sweetie. x
Kim, LOL, that’s so funny. I love it.
Cami, I am so glad you swallowed your water too, hee hee.
Susan, definitely. A homely ferret would have time for stuff like that too, what with not having much of a social life, and not bothering with spending time on clothes and make up.
Holl, I would let you in heaven, if it were, you know, up to me. I bet Jesus will change his mind though, I mean, what’s not to love.
Lovely Irene, I would send you the book and the ferret tomorrow, but I have to keep Miss M, okay?
Sandi, hee hee, I’m sure God knows you’re there, but you could always talk to the ghostly ferret too, just in case.
I really dig that sainted ferret — I want one painted on a t-shirt for all to admire but try very hard not to covet!
All my best to you and your great and groovy bunch!
Kids are so sweet sounding when they can’t say words right. I can’t help but laugh!
I done my six word memoir!
Hi Molly, the sainted ferret is cool isn’t it. All the best to you and yours too.
Kitten, I’ll be over to read.
