I love this song.

Mr B introduced me to Lou Reed when we first got together and I think he’s wonderful.

I love that his voice isn’t perfect.

I love that he looks a bit craggy,

and I love that he writes these amazing songs.

I also love that Mr B hit him on the head with a beach ball in a nightclub in New York some time in the early eighties when he was young and very drunk and on tour with B-Movie. Not because I want Lou Reed to be hit over the head with things, that would be mean, but just because it’s kind of a cool thing to be able to say.

And here’s our day at Willow Tree Family Farm, brought to you in a Mr Reed stylee…

Just a perfect day
Problems all left alone

Yet Mike does not look craggy to me. Maybe it’s his eyes??

Oh I so love this song, thank you! As for cool things to boast of … hmm, I have none so I will get a vicarious thrill from my brother in law playing football with The Undertones prior to a gig in Ipswich :o )

Perfect soundtrack for those great pictures! I found Lou Reed much more attractive once the music started, and I heard his voice. I’m a sucker for a man who can sing. :-)

good beach ball story, I agree, and the words go perfectly with the pictures. But I thought your poetry the other day pretty great, too.

Belle, The Undertones, Teenage Kicks, fabulous.

Groovy mum, hee hee, the singing does help, though he has a certain cuteness about him. ;)

Mie it was the best day, and thanks, I hadn’t written a poem for a little while and that one came really nicely from happy thoughts. :D

Picklesmum you are so right. His version is so much more chilled and simple and heartfelt. I wonder what he thought to the celeb version?

Kim, hee hee, I’m glad ewe noticed. ;)

Holl, I love your brain fast or slow, and you are soooo cool you’re like ice. but not like vanilla ice. He is not cool.

Corey my love, that is so annoying. Do you want me to come and kick it for you. Hugs and don’t worry. We’ll be here. xx

Lee thanks, that song makes me emotional too. It’s a bit magic. :D

Joe, thank you. And what’s not to love? Donkey poop. Definitely donkey poop. ;)

The title of this post gave me quite a start! Not only is my name in it, but I saw Lou Reed live in 1974.
