Never, NEVER complain to Miss M if you are outside in the rain.

She will react in a way you will not expect, and I don’t mean do a cute little dance, an impression of a mongoose or run off with your handbag.

If you are outside with Miss M and you feel that first little splatter of rain, or even if it starts off with avengeance and soaks you to the skin quicker than you can say the word ’soggy’, DO NOT utter a word.

Why?

Well because if you do, it’s quite possible you could end up prostrate beneath a large hairy mammal.

In fact, a 500lb/227kg, 6 foot tall mammal.

A 500lb, 6 foot tall very hairy mammal with big teeth.

I mean even if he was cute and slightly camp looking you still wouldn’t want him on your head would you?

No.

And how did I discover this unlikely but very real possibility?

Miss M: “My want to play the umbrella game.”

Me: “What game M?”

Miss M: “The umbrella game, dare.”

Can you spot the umbrella game?

Let me help…

Umbrella, gorilla you can see how she might get those mixed up right?

Snort.

And I’m allowed to laugh because I am her mummy and she will be doing the same to me in a few years time when she is a teenager and she thinks I’m past it.

Anyway, if I was really mean I would show her this…

..but I’m not, and it has nothing to do with the fact she’s in bed so I can’t.

Honest.

OK, I cannot focus on anything else other than the fact that the box to that game says “With real burping.”

Erm, I would much rather handle an umbrella. :)

this is so funny and cute. i love that miss m.

but now i want to know why they thought “let’s teach kids about eating right by feeding junk food to a gorilla.”

seriously is that what the nutritionists are saying? “don’t eat junk food – that’s what gorillas eat.”

you’re not laughing are you. cuz that’s all true isn’t it, and i’ve just been in the dark all these years. that’s why i have a weight problem – because i eat food meant for gorillas. dang.

wait. pizza is junk food? aaaaah. i get it now.

“with real burping” and then they have a ‘burp’ in case you don’t know what they mean. i love you, orchard toys.

It’s great when you have a built in source of humor such as a little girl who can’t remember things right yet. For me that was one of the best parts of my kids being little, the enormous laughing factor. You sure get to giggle a lot!

    Sybil, me too. :D

Lori, she is the queen of cute sometimes. :D

Corey, the game was Miss E’s when she was about 5 and she loved it for a little while. At the moment Miss M just likes the burping, but we do talk about the food and what is good for our tummy and what isn’t.

Susan, the burp sounds kind of more like a honk to be honest but my kids love it.

Kim, I bet Becca and Emma have a few funny ways of their own.

Holl, I have learnt soooo much from the gorilla. He is now my food mentor, I even feed him real stuff sometimes. :D

    GoneBackSouth, me too. ;)

Groovy Mom, it’s cute isn’t it? I couldn’t believe it when I found that pic. It was just perfect to add an umbrella too. I wonder if that’s what the photographer had in mind??

Lindy, the games are good. When Squidge is older you will have tons. ELC and Woolies are brill for games that aren’t too pricey. They always loose stuff from them so then you can replace them quite cheaply if it’s a favourite. :D And you and squidge will have to come and play one day. :D

Maria, she is. She could get away with anything that one.

Sandi, yay for Miss A too. I love how funny they are without meaning to be. :D

Nora we do, and blogging it means we will remember it for years to come hopefully. They the best for cheering me up or turning a good day into a hilarious and fabulous one. :D

Meg ‘Shoots and Ladders’ sounds much cuter than the ’snakes and ladders’ we’ve always had over here where you slide down the snakes. I love this stage, but I’m also loving the little person Miss E (nearly 8) is turning into. Her humour is really beginning to show and I like it. :D

Cami, I will probably taunt her a little bit. ;)
