WARNING
If you dislike posts of a slightly sweet and soppy nature then it might be best to avoid this one, but I couldn’t help it, ok?
Good.
On the last day of our little holiday with Holly, Queen of Hearts and the Thrower, we rounded up Rosie and IJ and headed to White Post Farm.
It is called White Post Farm because it is just off the White Post round-about near the White Post pub. I have no idea why it was called the White Post pub. I’m assuming there was a white post there. It must have been a pretty spectacular white post to have a pub named after it…or maybe the owner was just a bit dull.
We had an really good time.

Queen of Hearts and Miss E have become brilliant friends and it was great watching them just enjoy each others company and be really thoughtful and creative together. Even the race to see who could wind the food up to goat mountain the fastest didn’t turn nasty and Miss E cried a tiny bit in Schmesco later on as she was missing the queen already and wished they lived here so she could see them every day.
Most of the photos I’ve taken of Miss M today are like the one below with her rushing off to the next activity, too excited to stop and pose for mummy.
I always think going to places like this brings home just how much a kid grows in a year.
This time last year Miss E didn’t dare climb up to the whirly slide…

..but this year she didn’t think twice, and because E did it Miss M followed her.
Last year M was just a tiny two year old and was quite happy playing in the sand while watching daddy climb up to rescue E, snort.
You had to feel a little sorry for the thrower being the only boy in a party of eight, but he found solace in the company of this rooster who was also surrounded by adoring females and seemed to have, well, worn himself out somehow.
I cannot put into words how cool these three days have been. We have laughed, played, cooked, talked and laughed, and had a few, erm, alcoholic beverages. I am so glad it rained so that Holl stayed with us instead of the ‘campsite that can never be found’. And I am so glad I started blogging because otherwise I would never have met Holl, and all the other blog buddies I hope to will one day meet.
I am so exhausted, but it’s that kind of drunken blurry exhaustion that is not unpleasant but means it would be wise not to attempt to rewire your house, build a small extension or cut your own hair until the next morning.
Sleep is calling me.
Can’t…resist,..must…ssssszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
P.s. If you were wondering, then Holl really is as lovely and wise and funny and adorable as you imagine. She is all shiny like a very shiny thing, and everyone should have one.
Love you Holl and the small people. Mwah.

What fun! I just love meetups like this!
Aww - that looks like a great day. That slide looks amazing - I’d like to give that a try!
Glad you had a good time!
sigh. I’m not gonna kick you in the shin.
Sounds like a lot of fun. We went over to the states last year to visit our blog friends (www.gregorylee.com) and then they came over to see us about six months later.
We really miss them.
awwww dangit jo! now my keyboard is all soppy! i know i know i know there was the warning, but i have a habit of just plowing ahead anyway. . .
laughing AND crying in the same post. how do you do it?
and i’m not HALF as shiny and fabulous as you are!!!
queen of hearts was very sad in the car. she is sad in her bed now too. she wants you guys to move down here. what if we met in the middle. that would only be an hour and a half commute to work for all parties concerned. that’s not too much to ask?!?!
And my invitation was W H E R E?
Awww, that’s so sweet. It sounds like everyone had a lvoely time.
very entertaining - nada vomitus sandy
Belle, we had a great time, really fantastic. Next time I hope you’ll be able to come and play too. x
Mie, we’ve had 3 such busy days and I am crappy without the sleep. Feeling better now though and it was so good.
Corey, she is a shiny happy person.
Lori it was cool.
Don Mills Diva it was fantastic. I didn’t go on the slide as you had to be under 4 ft 9″. Sighhhhh. They should make a place like this for grown ups really.
Maria, it was fab my sweet.
Cami, ahhh thanks hon. And one day we will all play. x
Dan it’s so funny how you feel so close to someone you’ve never officially met, but I suppose the way we are on our blogs is generally so close to the people we are in real life that we already have stuff in common, shared memories and history etc. It’s great. I hope you get to see your friends again soon.
Holl, it’s not too much to ask me, but Mr B and your B man might complain. Sighhhhhh. But we will have many more fun days. many many more. Hugs.
David my sweet, you are welcome any time. Just let us know when you’re dropping in i=on the UK.
Awww….you guys are so cute will all your soppy loving each other to bits…can’t wait till the day there’s a post up here talking up my triumphal first visit to the UK. Mwah!
How could you not have a good time … Love all the pix
:-Daryl
That slide and the ‘high wire’ look like so much fun! I want try it!
Came over from David’s.
STILL JEALOUS, here!

But glad you all had a lovely time.
But, I am from the states - what does “feeding the ducks” mean here?! I know what “eating the ducks” means, but I don’t like duck - or goose. Greasy! Ick.
That sounds like a really fabulous way to spend a few days~ glad you guys had such a good time.
Your Younglings are so precious and they grow up so fast, take all the time you can watching them grow because when they’re grown it’s over…they’re not nearly so cute anymore, but the good news is they’ll hopefully reproduce a few who are cute than they were!
hugs
Sandi
ps congrats on the mention in David’s post…
Jo I’ve noticed that next to the photo of me it says ‘How Rude’!!!
Glad you had such a great time. One day I will find out where you meet and gatecrash! I can’t imagine Holly any other way than shiny. I bet you’re the same.
Thanks for being over at mine - my visits are interrupted by real life at the mo, which is a PITA but alas, apparently where I live.
Lilacspecs, it was really good.
Sandy, thanks, and so glad you were vomit free. ;D
Kim, I can’t wait for that either. xx
Daryl, it was so lovely, and you’re right, it couldn’t not be good with the Holl.
Rachel it was great. My kids got sooo brave. And David is fabulous isn’t he?
Sybil, according to Holl’s mum, feeding the ducks is another name for ‘bashing the bishop’. Weird.
chrisb it was really good. The kids are exhausted but hapy and will have plenty to talk about when they get back to school and nursery next week.
Rosie, but you are soooo rude young lady.
Crazycath, one day we will have a great British Blogmeet. It needs to happen. And hope things get easier soon. Well still be here.
