Today we did the school proud by attending the church garden party. Mr B unfortunately had band rehearsal and couldn’t come, so Misses E and M, Granny and Grandad and I headed off armed with bags, sunhats, raincoats and dosh. It’s always a really nice occasion as it’s full of people who’ve known me since I was tiny, and also friends from school and nursery for E and M.

After nabbing several bargains we never knew we needed, including about 8 million cuddly toys (Miss E) like she doesn’t have enough of them already, Miss M spent a good hour running round in a circle with her friend A, while I chatted with mates and ate a nice scone, slurp.

Seriously, she did this for an hour.

Up the steps, turn left…

..round the side and do it again.

With a few moments for some plant study in between.

And yes that is a bouncy castle in the top photo but who needs a bouncy castle when there are steps and an arch way? I mean come on people, bouncy castles are so last week.

So yes, we had a good time, but the best part, the exciting bit, the bit that means this is not just a post about a family day out, the bit that you will keep with you forever, that will warm the cockles of your cockles, is this…

We won a mystery prize.

Ticket 230, green, was our lucky number and it came up big time.

So what did we win?

A garden set? A toasted sandwich maker? A horse?

No.

This.

I know, you don’t have to say it, we are sooooo lucky.

It’s a, a stacky twirly thing. A storage container for storage containers.

And look, there’s more, it does this…

Slide out, slide in, slide out, slide in.

You want one don’t you? But this baby is mine.

Well, mine till next year when I may allow it to grace the tombola store again. I mean, it would be wrong for me to keep such a thing of beauty to myself.

Very, VERY wrong.

Damn! I just knew we should’ve gone to the garden party this year! I have been looking everywhere for one of those and you got it. Lou is gonna be so disappointed.

Oh well, perhaps I’ll try my luck next year. ;-)

It must have been a man who came up with that contraption and thought it was really handy. Oh, boy! It would be good to entertain a 2 year old with, or rather, frustrate them with. You sure can store heaps of potato salad now. Go door to door and ask people to donate food to your storage containers.

I could use one of those. Life was much less cluttered before the invention of plastic storage containers. I mean, we didn’t need storage containers for our storage containers back then, did we?

Mie, it came in so far it grounded itself. ;)

Kim, it is funny isn’t it? And I know your mum will be is really cool and lovely. I bet this is one of those items a whole generation were brain washed into thinking they needed.

Charrette, but you no longer have it so that’s ok. ;D

BelleV, exactly my sweet. We use clutter to clean up our clutter.

i totally know why she didn’t go on the bouncy castle. it looks like old people are lining up for it!! you do NOT want to bounce on a bouncy castle with old people in it. the romans knew it….(oh wait i already did that line…). anyway – mystery solved.

OH JOOOOOO!!! all the things you could STORE!!!! food from last week! food from the week before!!! all could be stored so easily!! and now, you can entertain the kids by spinning your containers. YOU COULD MAKE A LITTLE GAME OUT OF IT!!! oh there is so much possibility here. no, wait, that’s it.

Holl, that must be it. Old people are so rough on bouncy castles. And yay the storage game. We’ll get the kids playing it when you’re up here next.
