The fabulous and inspirational Lisa from Lisa’s Chaos is our host today, and she wants us to talk about how weird we all are. She says:

“A quirk is defined as a peculiarity of action, behaviour, or personality: mannerism. We are all unique individuals, having quirks that help make us who we are. I would like to know what your quirks are. Confess to one confess to ten, you decide. Just come back Monday ready to spill the beans, the rest of the world may look at you like you are from Mars, but you’re among friends here. We won’t laugh, in fact that eccentricity just may endear you to us more.”

This is so hard as I think I was much quirkier as a kid than I am now. I was a weird kid at times.

Anyway, we’re off…
1. I sometimes treat inanimate objects as if they are, erm, real. For example, if I eat a blue smartie, I make sure I eat another blue smartie afterwards in case the first blue smartie gets lonely. Or if I’m throwing away some leftovers, I worry that the family of one of the uneaten peas may have been eaten first and therefore, because I haven’t finished my meal, I have doomed this pea to a life of loneliness, searching for its lost family who have erm, ended up in the sewers instead of, well, landfill.

Hmmm, maybe I should have made this the last one right? But I suppose it’s this internal narrative that often fills my head that leads to creativity right? I mean, I don’t really believe it, I promise. No, don’t go, come back…

Cough, ok, I’ll carry on.

2. When ever I say goodnight to my girls I have to say, ‘See you in the morning’ too. This stems from childhood when my mum always said, “Night night, God bless, see you in the morning.” If at anytime she didn’t say it I would say it to her, and if she still didn’t, I would shout it again so that she had to reply. It was just something I needed to hear. I had this fear that if she didn’t say “See you in the morning” then maybe I wouldn’t.

3. I love being up at night when all the house is quiet. I read, I blog, I watch late night re-runs of ‘Sex and the City’, or ‘Friends’ or “Two and a half men.” I just love the quiet, the not being responsible for or answerable to anyone. It feels like I’ve stolen some time that people aren’t meant to have and I like that.

4. I have weird dreams, more so in the last year or so. Last night I dreamt that Jack Black was my husband/bloke/man and that we had a farm. On the farm were lots of geese but that was all. We farmed geese. What do geese do? Not a lot right, but these rode little bikes?? Why?

5. I talk to our gerbil. Her tank is next to the pc and we have little conversations sometimes. She’s sitting in her food bowl looking at me right now.

6. I have a third arm.

Please note, one of these is made up as I couldn’t think of anything else quirky. I think the way I ‘think’ is a little quirky sometimes, but maybe it’s not and you can’t really describe thought processes can you??

Fantastically this post also fits with a meme I was tagged for by my wise, wonderful and witty friend, Belle, at Diary of a Housewife. She has asked me to name six of my quirks so that is what I aimed for.
I also have to tag six people but I figure there’s enough quirkiness around today so I’ll send you in their direction. Go read the Fun Monday dudes and dudettes people, and go see Belle too, now she is quirky.

I like these (well except the 3rd arm; that’s a bit too Zaphod Beeblebrox for my liking).
I often think of how my life would go as a movie. I pus soundtracks to what I’m doing, create dialogues in my head, etc. Hopefully one day I’ll be a writer and then I can blame the need for novels as the reason for the strange goings on inside my mind.

ooh quirky lerky fabulosa! Love it :) I bet all the bike riding geese on your farm with Jack were called Goosey Lucy weren’t they? But I don’t think you should have made up the one about talking to your gerbil. I mean who would believe that?? :D

You made up the Jack Black thing, right? I can understand a Smartie getting lonely, but those peas don’t deserve a break. Funny post.

What fun quirkiness you’ve shared … but I have no idea which one might not be the truth! Are you going to tell us later or keep us wondering indefinitely? What a great evening routine with your girls! My list is up at Small Reflections.

Saying, “See you in the morning,” is a sweet and wonderful custom. If you have three arms, are you right-handed, left-handed, or middle-handed.

I have so many quirks that I am a bit humiliated! One is that I keep little jars of my favorite lip balm all over the house, as well as in all my coat pockets and in every handbag. I think I fear I will be trapped without one! :)

dang but this is a hard one. i mean i’ve seen your third arm, so it isn’t that one. . . and i’ve watched “sex & …” with you, so it isn’t *that* one….

i’ve *watched* the conversation with the gerbil, and the less said about that the better… (kidding!!!)

and i watched in HORROR as you fed us olives, then when we didn’t eat them, you did have some sort of ritual. wow. that…was…something…

i’m going to guess it’s the jack black. i mean really, we wouldn’t *both* dream about jack black now would we?! silly girl.

Eating more than one of the same item to keep it company is just too weird. I stay up during the night myself. This is my alone time away from the husband. Jack Black is cool, nice dream.

I love staying up late for the same reason. :)

and this line..”It feels like I’ve stolen some time that people aren’t meant to have and I like that.”…is wonderful. I woke up before anyone else this morning for the first time in a long time and it felt JUST LIKE THAT.

Quirk…hmmm….the only way I can stop biting my nails (I know, disgusting filthy habit that it is) is to get a weekly manicure. I refuse to destroy $20 worth of work by biting into it AND, I MUST have either silver or gold topcoat glitter on the polish….teehee, that is kind of like my signature now! I wonder if your manicure would be $30 cause of the extra hand…hmmmm???!!!!

So, let’s talk something more current than our ongoing quirks. Have you seen the new Sex and the City movie? It’s showing here now and I’m anxious to see all the fashion and sexy shenanigans. However, I’m very caught up with Jane’s Mr. Darcy and Captain Wentworth. I fear these modern puppies could not hold their own against proud English landowners and gallant seafarers. What do you think?

The movie that’s kept me from seeing SATC is Then She Found Me with Helen Hunt and Colin Firth. If you like these two actors, you’d like the movie, I believe. Very original.

We always used to say “Night night, see you in the morning, love you!” to my Dad and he’d say it back when we were put to bed. We still say it now when i stay over at my parents house and I cant wait to say it to my children one day. Its reassuring to hear it :-)
