Sometimes Miss E gets a little fed up of her little sister’s questions. They come thick and fast and are often repeated, ridiculous and random. Generally Miss E copes very well. She is a lovely big sister and answers with patience, sharing her nearly eight year old knowledge with thought and care, but occasionally, she rebels, just in a small way. Like the other day, when I overheard this…
Miss M: “E, why are you upstairs.”
Miss E: “I’m going to the toilet M.”
Miss M: “Why?”
Miss E: “Because I need the toilet.”
Miss M: “Why?”
Miss E: “Because I had a big drink M.”
Miss M: “Why?”
Miss E: “Because I was thirsty.”
Miss M: “Why?”
Silence.
Miss M: “E, what you got in your mouth?”
Miss E: “Your head.”
“Miss E!” I shout in a tone of mock horror.
And Miss E laughs manically as she washes her hands then runs and jumps on me as I lay chuckling on my bed.

Hehe, the joy of siblings, right? It always impresses me how well some older kids manage their little brothers or sisters.
Lol, that’s great! I have two girls and get similar conversations. Aren’t they great?!
Too funny! I’m impressed she washed her hands.
Oh how they make me laugh sometimes (sometimes…!!)
Brilliant! I once got caught with my sister’s head really in my mouth. I’d taken a bite out of her scalp while my Mum was on the phone. Follow a severe chastising my Mum asked me if I’d learnt my lesson. Yes, I replied. Well tell me what you’ve learnt, she answered. Never bite someone’s head because it will leave a pile of hair in your mouth. Wasn’t quite the lesson she wanted me to learn …
miss e is the total OPPOSITE of how i treated my sister. i was younger, much more foolish, and didn’t realize what a fab sister i had.
thankfully, i do now.
Heh.
Even patience has it’s limits I guess - cute.
Chortle.
Seriously your kids say the best things EVER!!!
This is too cute, and I love the photo. I didn’t comment yesterday, but the shoe fiasco, was great. Once, at work, one of the booksellers, showed up with the same shoe, but in different colors, right foot, black, left foot, brown.
Bwahahahah! Clever girl!
Lilacspecs, she’s pretty good most of the time. I think the four and a half year age gap helps as M is little enough to be seen as cute and not too annoying. They have their moments though.
Hi Berthddu Suit, they are so funny sometimes aren’t they?
Meg, we sometimes have to remind them but they both tend to just do it thank bob.
Hi Lynsey. I so get the sometimes, hee hee.
Belle, okay I’m gagging a bit here.
Holl, I’m a little scared that it will all be different when they’re teenagers though, but I suppose that’s normal.
DMDiva, definitely, heh heh. It really made me chuckle though.
Erin, they do say cool stuff. I bet yours do too though, and this is the best way to remember it all.
Jan, hee hee, that’s so embarrassing. I have to admit I went to work once in odd boots too. They were both black, but one had a taller heel. It was mad.
Kim, I love what she comes out with at the moment. Her grown up humour is really starting to shine through and I’m dead chuffed.
As a big sister who had to endure much of the same, I think her response was PERFECT.
They are just too cute!
I always feel so entertained after visiting with Miss M…and Miss E was quite the little charmer herself today!
Sandi
silly little minxes.
The teenage years in your house ought to be REAL fun.
Really.
(this coming from the youngest of 3 daughters)
It could’ve been worse.

My girlfriend said the same thing to me once.
Classic! She has her mum’s wit already!
Miss E is very smart. She will eat boys later. For breakfast. (Then spit them out).
Great conversation - great post.
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww that is just so cute. I love the photo.
next time….drop to your knees and take it.
then bill me for the damage to your pants. LOL
sisters….what a fun thing. I sometimes wish I had one.
sorry I am MIA. computer issues are horrible for me right now. ugh.
