Once upon a time there was a large red tomato. Now this was no ordinary tomato as it had a penchant for disco dancing and tended to do ‘the shuffle’ at any given opportunity. By doing a regular shimmy he rarely got picked by the shoppers at Schmesco as most people tended to avoid the rocking tomato at the back as they felt he looked a little unhinged and therefore had the potential to cause some kind of terrible tomato based catastrophe.

The upside to this is he didn’t get eaten.
The downside is that all his friends did, and he was left bereft on an almost daily basis.
It seemed every time he made a new shiny red buddy they were scooped up by a young man with a sharp haircut and tossed into a salad, or flung into a bag by a kindly old lady with a purple hat and then sliced into an egg sandwich with the crusts cut off.
But all this was about to change. You see, the Chicago Rock Cafe were in need of a very special tomato. It had to be cool, it had to be funky, it had to be ready to get on down with an attractive cucumber and a slightly effeminate lettuce that dressed really well and had lots of friends who were girls.
But, more important than that, it had to be able to mingle with a sausage and still look tasty and satisfying on the plate of the one small boy at Miss E’s birthday party* who DID NOT LIKE CHIPS.
Yes.
There was a kid at the party who did not like chips/french fries.
I nearly fainted.
* Miss E’s 8th Birthday is a couple of weeks away yet but she has a joint party two of her mates who are also late July and August birthdays. If we wait till her actual birthday her friends are always on holiday, or we are.

Hi Jo, I noticed the boy who did not like chips and thought “That is not normal”, but he did not eat any of his salad either, and that IS normal for an 8 year old boy!

he is masquerading as a boy. really he is an alien, and you better get the word out on him before the infiltration begins.

Did he request a tomato alternative? Or was it just assumed he’d prefer that. Just curious.
Also, I like the new look.

Ingenious, it’s madness I tell you, madness. ;D
Holly, I think you’re right hon. He did dance in a weird way. I’ll let the appropriate authorities know.
Lilacs apparently he was offered salad and accepted happily, though it turned out he didn’t like cucumber or tomato and was not overly fond of lettuce, hee hee. And thanks, I’m really happy with it.
Kim, maybe you should get her checked out by a GP, hee hee. He looked healthy though.

what kid does not like chips? Has he been tested for alien blood? I really like your dancing tomato though.

Bubblewench, he should be. Maybe I should have tripped him up then checked what colour it was. ;D And I had such fun making the dancing tomato. Dancing vegetables are always good.

I feel left out. My tomatoes only sit there. HOW lame is that?
Happy early bday to Miss E. May all of her chips be tasty in the coming year.
