Monkey Magic

by Jo Beaufoix on July 29, 2008

The lovely Berthddu Suit tagged me for the “6 random things meme”, but I’ve already done it so I decided to put a little Beaufoix Spin on it and tell you 6 random things about spider monkeys.

1. Spider monkeys are not actually spiders or monkeys, but are in fact large hairy space lizards.

2. Spider monkeys seldom make their own breakfast. They have an aversion to toasters and cannot handle spoons before 10am so are fed intravenously by small robotic dogs.

3. Spider monkeys love musicals and audition for West End and Broadway shows about twice a year up until the age of 43. Rumour has it that in 1985 a young black head spider monkey named Marigold was up against Sarah Brightman for a part in Phantom of the Opera but lost out on the female lead as she was unable to balance a large piece of marzipan on her head.

4. Spider monkeys cannot taste anything green.

5. Spider monkeys are unable to hitch hike as they have no thumbs .

6. Spider monkeys love gossip and are not averse to spreading rumours just for the fun of it.

As part of this meme I have to tag 6 others, which I will do, but again in a Beaufoix stylee.

So Holl, Mie, Kimberly, Leendaluu, Lilac Specs and Momo, I want 6 random things about pygmy elks please ladies.

Go on, surprise and delight me, you know you want to.

Oh boy, homework in English! Is it sick that this excites me? (in a totally benign way that has nothing to do with my naughty bits)

If you ever have testing done to see how in the world your brain comes up with that craziness I’d like to see the results. And then perhaps take some notes so that I can possibly duplicate them : ) LOVED it!! You are awesome!

Believe it or not I once rescued a Spider Monkey from a store by way of buying him…he was sitting under a duct being terribly chilled. He was 50 dollars…I named him Shine. We kept him for over a year while trying to locate a safe habitat for him, and he finally settled in at the Charleston Zoo…my how we loved our Shine…Monkey, not Moon

Seriously, it took me half a day to figure out how to leave a comment! Paint fumes have killed my brain. As for pygmy elks, they…like me…have no idea what “pithy” means. But, they do like do dance. A lot.

Really Jo, your lack of tact is shocking.

You know I had a traumatic experience with Pygmy Elks once…oops…pardon me…have to have a flashback now…

Lilacs, not sick, I’m excited to see what you come up with. I love me a bit of daft. :D

Lindy, I try. :D

Sandy thank you. :D

Holl, ohh I accept you challenge. African Long Nose Tapirs are renowned for so many things, aside from the long noses.

Erin, thanks sweetie. And I am so behind at your blog. I will catch up one day, honest.

Kitten thanks, and again I need to catch up over at yours. I’ll get there.

Sandi I love that you did that. Is Shine still at the zoo? It’s so sad what we do to animals sometimes isn’t it?

Momo, I can see ‘em dancing now babe. :D

Kim, blimey, I forgot all about that my sweet, so sorry. Please forgive me.
