Is it wrong to want to own a turtle?

p8060123.JPG

This is Snorkle.

She’s a blind and epileptic leather-back turtle and she currently resides at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth.

Except.

She isn’t there anymore.  I have stolen her.    I slipped her in my pocket and replaced her with an upside down mixing bowl strapped to a leather slipper.  They don’t seem to have noticed yet but it’s only a matter of time.

Shhhhhh.

No, it’s not. Aint he just pretty! We have caught a few and raised them for a while, then we let them go because we don’t want them to die and we are really not sure what to feed them.
I have thought of going to the pet store and get one. The pet store could tell us how to take care of it.

Oh, that is so sweet and funny.
I owned a turtle once. He was given to me by the boyfriend at the time since I’m a fan of turtles. I named him Cole and mostly felt sorry for him being in that aquarium, so I’d take him out and let him walk around the apartment. Then he would hide. Don’t worry he was both a land/water turtle and I always found him and put him back in the water (to swim in small circles) Poor Cole. What a patient guy…. :)

Ah, Jo, they just set a rehabilitated loggerhead sea turtle free here last week. His name was Squirt. If you’d been here, you might have been able to catch him. Which would have resulted in the Coast Guard arresting you, but so what? *grin* I also liked the upside-down mixing bowl/slipper combo. Quite the visual!
