Yesterday was quite possibly the coolest wedding in the world ever.
Why?
1. The bride, my mate Lu, was wearing a fabulous creation from an amazing and also very lovely Nottingham Designer who makes clothes for Dita Von Teese and the Scissor Sisters. So she looked like a princess but with a funky/sassy edge that is completely her.
2. The groom rocked out for a few songs with his band, then a mate’s band took over again to provide us with a night of wicked tunes from our ‘yoof’.
3. The father of the bride and all male members of the wedding party were presented with cool black converse boots and wore them with pride.

4. Nobody seemed to mind the fact that Miss M went on a crazy sugar high and rampaged about the room while everyone ate good food and drank copious amounts of alcohol. Or if they did they kept very quiet about it.
(Here you can see her terrorising a ladybird outside the church with Mr B.)
5. No one commented when I high kicked a balloon on the dance floor and my shoe flew off, not even any of these people who are generally full of sarcasm and witty repartee. I have decided this is because they love me, but it may well have been because none of them saw. Ingenious Rose had already left by this time as IJ was a little under the weather, so sadly she was not to witness my fabulous karate moves.
Don’t they all look civilized? I can promise that changed.
6. The cutest guitarist, Mr M, 12 year old son of one of the two wicked best men, added his guitar skills to the mix joining the band for a Stones classic…
..and also proved to be bubble master and owner of the most fantastic hair at the wedding.
7. It just was, ok?
8. Oh, and absent friends were acknowledged and remembered with love. That’s you Dezzi and Mr J. Hope New Zealand is being good to you. Miss you. x

Oh my gosh her dress is beautiful!! And it looks like so much fun! All my friends that are getting married are in the US so I can’t go to most of their weddings.

I love that I get to add “pithy” words to this awesome post. Weddings are supposed to be just this – a time for friends/family to have a blast and get all their karate moves done. What a pity that the moment wasn’t memorialized in a photo. I am highly amused by the converse boots. What an excellent idea.

That DOES look like the coolest wedding ever. I love Chuck’s and I noticed them right away. So cool.
Over from David’s.

Kim, she looked so gorgeous I could have cried. I mean she always looks gorgeous, but she just did that glowy thing that some brides do.
Sybil, it was wicked. My ears rang for 2 days afterwards, heh heh.
David, definitely, and this year I’ve been to two.
Lilacs, it was the most gorgeous dress ever. Some of our best mates Dez and Jay live in New Zealand now (and Ju and Dave xx) and they were very missed, but we’ll send them a ton of photos and hopefully they’ll feel a little of the atmosphere we felt. It must be hard for you though sweet, I know it was for them.
Crazycath we did, it was the best.
Bubblewench, she could have been a pirate wench could she not? It was fab.
Bush Mummy, that bit was so cool. Even the tiny ushers had them, they looked brilliant.
Momo, me too. I might have bluffed them into believing it was giant confetti or something though??
Daryl it was, everyone was just completely up for it and there for these two brilliant people. Seriously, they are amazing and very very loved.
Akela, wasn’t it a dream? Next time you come to Notts you have to visit the shop, apparently its very sumptuous and gorgeous.
DFTF, yeah, cool aren’t they?
Don Mills Diva, definitely, it was all about good times.
Lindy, we did. I knew we would, and they organised it all in about 3 months.
Merisi hi, way cool, yep.

Is there nothing more fun than a civilized wedding with alcohol and everything, fun being had on somebody elses dime? Glad you enjoyed it so awfully much! Sorry my invite got lost in the mail…?
