Saving the World with the Beaufoixs

Blog

Next Tuesday the 14th it will be one whole year since I made a pledge.

Having checked out my Carbon Footprint I knew there were things we could improve on so I vowed to make some changes including getting cavity wall insulation, car sharing and turning appliances off instead of keeping them on stand by.

And our results??

Our old footprint is the red and our new the dark green so I think we’re doing pretty well. There are still things we can change, for example using the car less, buying a diesel and improving on our ’stand by’ efforts which we haven’t quite reached yet.

As a family we also decided to change all our light bulbs to Energy Efficient ones, even though it meant buying new fittings in some rooms.

So, did we do it? Well what do you think?

So not only have we been slimming our bin the Almost-Mrs-Average way (including buying energy saving lightbulbs which means less waste for landfill), we’ve also shrunk our collective Beaufoix feet and will now all undoubtedly go to the Ball as they’re probably tinier than Cinderella’s comparitively enormous great loafers.

Sighhhh, it’s not a bad start right?

This post was written as part of Rubbish Diet’s Carnival of Trash. Go and visit if you get chance and be inspired to change your lives and change the world. And anyone else who took up the light bulb challenge please let me know how you got on. Can you believe it’s been a year??

Good job! I think any effort to consume fewer resources is valuable, no matter where one stands on the issue of global warming, environmentalism, or the economy.

The ends to which you can go to be kind to mother earth are endless, Every time you think you have done enough, there are 10 more things you could do. Be ever vigilant and teach the children well. Do everything mindfully, even turning on the lights. But don’t let yourself get neurotic about it either, stay within reason, life must stay comfortable to some degree.
