Fate’s fate

What is it with sleep?

Or should I say, what is it with my kids and sleep?

This week Miss M has been in our bed 6 nights out of 7. There have been no nightmares, no tummy ache, no sickness, no nothing, except, no sleep.

And Miss E has lain awake tossing and turning and doing lots of not sleeping and she has no reason why except she ‘just can’t’. Nothing is worrying her. She seems happy in the day, happy at school, is coping with her work and wanders round singing and dancing a lot of the time. And yet the not sleeping continues.

I think it’s some cruel twist of fate, some other worldly mythological abstract power’s idea of fun.

Fate: “I know, let’s give the woman who really needs her sleep two kids who really don’t. In fact, let’s give her two kids that don’t need a lot of sleep, but also make them struggle to get that bit of sleep they do need. Let’s have them be wide awake deep into the night and demanding comfort/entertainment from the zombie chick with the wild hair, spotty chin and eye bags.

Yep. I owe fate a kick in the goolies.

And yes I know Fate is a he. If Fate was a she, she would make them wake up and want Daddy.

The cartoon made me want to cheer. Go Jo! It’s the same over here as well. Both girls lately. Could be the time of year, perhaps? Kick him one for me too please!

You are not alone. Evan woke up at 4am this morning and wouldn’t go bac to sleep. 4am!

And in our house, fate makes the children want the opposite parent to the one that’s just got up to tend to them.

Kicking fate in the balls is a whole new concept to me. I never thought of it, but I will apply it from now on. It won’t dare come near me anymore, because I am a mean kicker and then I have my left hook also. Kapow! There goes fate out the window.

Kim I slam dunked him. He won’t mess with us again. :D

Dan that’s what M is like. She just lays their staring at the ceiling but she won’t let me go. It’s mad isn’t it? At least fate makes you both equally annoyed in your house. In mine the kids just want me or both of us, Argggghhhhhh.

CrazyCath, Fate is a bad bad man.

Katie/Kitten, I hope so too. E isn’t so bad but Miss M is a nightmare at the moment and then she’s so tired the next day. I ‘m sure it will stop soon but it’s so wearing isn’t it?

Irene we could so kick Fate’s butt couldn’t we? Heh heh.

Sybil, sometimes it just needs to be done. ;D

Oh, that’s just terrible. All my friends with kids aay the best part of the day is having them fall asleep so they can rest themselves. I feel for you. Let’s hope the cooler fall/winter wather proves to be sleep-inducing for all!
