We know how to party

Today it was baby J’s 2nd birthday party.
There was fun with balloons…

Yummy party food…

And a bouncy castle…

And the kids had a great time too.

Have a fab weekend everybody. I’m off out for a girlie night with my two sister-in-laws and some mates tonight. It will almost definitely involve wine and chocolates.
Sighhhh.
Perfect. [...]

Saving the World with the Beaufoixs

Next Tuesday the 14th it will be one whole year since I made a pledge.
Having checked out my Carbon Footprint I knew there were things we could improve on so I vowed to make some changes including getting cavity wall insulation, car sharing and turning appliances off instead of keeping them on stand by.
And our [...]

Today, Thursday 9th October 2008 is National Poetry Day, as I was reminded by my lovely friend Almost Mrs Average over at The Rubbish Diet.
Anyone who has read me for a while knows I dabble in poetry mostly of the daft kind, so I thought I’d share some with you today just for fun. [...]

Exploding heads

If there was ever a night I was looking forward to some quiet contemplative Me time, tonight is it.  Having looked after Misses E and M, cousin baby J, cousin ME and E’s friend D for a large part of the day I am at the point where I need to just chill.  Dinner is [...]

Sometimes kids say the weirdest things. It’s like somebody filled their heads with little magnetic words and gave them a shake. Occasionally there is real wisdom in there though, you just have to listen.
So, having already had a little poetic interlude from Miss E this week, it was with bated breath that [...]

Lost words

It lay there damp and forgotten, a single page from a small paperback book, half folded.
It rested uneasily amongst fallen leaves of crisp autumn gold, and I wondered why it was there, this little piece of toil and sweat and probably love.
Part of me wanted to stop and retrieve it, to cradle its limp frailty [...]

Proud Mummy moment and someone worth a visit

Miss E arrived home from school on Friday and handed me a crumpled piece of paper.
Her eyes shone with nervous excitement and her head was high, her smile the tightly pursed lips of a child bursting to tell, but wanting desperately for me to discover instead of be told.
I looked down at the white page [...]

Daddy cool

Miss M: “Mummy, was my in your tummy when my was a baby?”
Me: “Yes babe, when you were very very tiny.”
Miss M: “And was E in Daddy’s?”

Wait for it…
Me: “No. Only girls can have babies M. We’re very lucky aren’t we.”
See, I didn’t even laugh, at least not until [...]

Little Monsters

Shmesco put out its Halloween stock yesterday and for the first time the choice is pretty vast. Having been in earlier in the day when I dropped Miss E and Miss M at school and nursery it was with some trepidation that we joined cousin ME and baby J after nursery for a wander [...]

Just what is it that you want to do?

Today I learnt something about my husband.
It’s weird because we’ve been together for 15 years so you’d think I’d know everything there is to know wouldn’t you?
Like if he stands beside me in a certain way I know he’s going to leave me with the gift of a windy emission that wouldn’t seem out of [...]
