My Mum is wicked. Good wicked, you know, not like in an evil way, but in a cool way.
She’s the most organised person I know which is probably why she was a fantastic teacher, and brought up a brood of four while my dad often worked shifts and she herself worked full time when the youngest turned 5 and the oldest of us was 11.
Now she is not only the best Mum in the world, but also the best Gran in the world. She is always thinking of them. If she sees a special little something she knows one of them will love she gets it, then gets something for the other three so they don’t feel left out.
She is the person who can calm them with some simple distraction delivered in a quiet and firm voice, when she can see Mummy or Daddy is about to explode.
She takes and collects my girls from school and nursery, she cares for baby J on Mondays and Wednesdays when Auntie Helly is a work. She’s chief babysitter, tear soother, face wiper, cuddle giver, point of advice, and the person I share mad Miss E and Miss M-isms as I know she will love them as much as I do.
I trust her completely with the well being of my children, and I know she will always be there for them and me.
She grandparents as we parent, instead of doing her own thing, and while we value her opinions immensely we’re also aware she values ours too.
I am so lucky. I couldn’t have done it without her.

Happy Birthday to your wonderful Mom. It’s so good for daughters to have inspiring Mom’s who encourage us in all our hopes and dreams. Seems you got just what you needed! Congrats to you Jo, on keeping her young!
