Hilary it is in a way I suppose. I mean he’s not leery and I don’t feel threatened by him or anything. It’s just not something I would do I don’t think. Maybe I’m a bit odd.

i actually would be more worried if your name *wasn’t* on the parcels and he said your name. that would definitely make me walk to the door with a bazooka or something. a large tomato in my throwing hand? something…!

Does seem a bit odd. We used to have a great postman, who was very friendly, never brought us post from the people who lived here seven years ago, didn’t mind the dog, didn’t mind that I pretty much always answered the door in my pyjamas and always said ‘Hello’ if we passed him in the street. He never called me by name, though, and could quite easily have done so, as he saw it so often.

Our Postman posts and runs, ususally because there is an over enthusiastic child on the other side pulling the post out of his hand.

My friend checked her mat last week and found amongst her letters … a wrist support. She can only assume it’s the postman’s!

I think that people now frequently just assume that they are allowed to go right with someone’s given name, if they know it. It does seem odd. He probably hasn’t thought a thing about it.
Either that or he is flirting with you hoping to get a big Christmas tip come December…..
