At last…

Blog

I have been waiting for this.

Up until today Miss M had never built a snowman.

She had never experienced the satisfying crunch of her wellington clad feet on fresh white snow.

She had never seen an icicle, or shaken a powder coated bough causing a flurry of tiny white flakes of shivering, beautiful, cold to flutter to the ground.

And she had never seen her Mummy and Daddy and sister, red faced, foggy breathed, and bright eyed, working together to help her build something special.

She managed a good forty minutes until the cold hit and Daddy took her in to warm her hands and begin the line of steaming gloves on the radiator.

Miss E and I managed another half hour, aided by the heat of a battle.  There was a below the chin only rule, but hey, is it my fault my kid is small??  (Bad Jo).

Hope you’re all safe and warm, wherever you are.

beautiful. I forget, as weary as i am of snowfall, that it is a delight in some eyes. Glad you had your snow day, chilly fingers and hot chocolate.

glad you got to have some fun in the snow. Last snow we had I built a snow princess. Which the dogs promptly destroyed. But she was cute while she lasted.

even though it was 79F today here, I am actually quite jealous.
My kids have never seen snow.
They think it’s a cause for hot chocolate if the thermometer goes below 63F and they demand that the heating be put on.

Lee it was fantastic. I know if we had it all the time it wouldn’t be so exciting, but we don’t, so it’s been a good couple of days. :D

Sybil that’s what I think. When I was a kid we got snow almost every year so we were old pros at igloo building, sledging etc, but Miss E has only sledged once and Miss M hasn’t done it at all yet. I hope we manage to soon. :D

Mie I bet she was gorgeous but I bet it was funny watching the dogs get her. We didn’t do snow angels but I’ll show the girls them if I get chance.

Lisa that would be so weird but I suppose there are other benefits to your climate. ;D

Daryl, most of us love the snow here, unless we have to travel anywhere. We’re just not prepared for it anymore. Can you believe they stopped every bus in London? It made me giggle so much. Oh and Happy Birthday gorgeous.

Can we swap weather conditions? We’re sweltering and we’ve even copped a bushfire – and the hottest spell in a century!

this is evil snowman. it is evil because it killed all of the uk. no one went anywhere and the government is to blame, apparently. and now you and your kin are just making snowmen out of it. it’s not right jo. it’s not right to take delight in such a destructive force.

oh, by the way. it’s beginning to look a lot like christmas. sing it. now just the girls. now the grandpas.

So lovely to spend some time here at the end of my day and get caught up. Yay for the snow – I’d heard it hit your part of the world and hoped it was more blessing than curse to you. =)

I forgot that snow is fantastic from a kid´s point of view. I just think it is a terrible bother, but remember now how much my kids liked it. Sledding was especially a great activity. And I remember many cups of hot chocolate with marshmallows in them. Glad your kids had such a good time.
