Often when we travel as a family we do that thing where we pick a house, a town, a lifestyle that we would kind of like to try out.  You do that too right?  Those little pipe dreams, the lure of the idyllic, the attraction of that which is beyond reach right now, but who knows, maybe one day…

This holiday, as we travelled from Mansfield to Aylesbury to Uckfield and back home again, we were spoilt for choice.

There was the 300 year old ‘Duck In’ at Aston Clinton with the gorgeous old beams.

The quaint thatched cottages I captured as we passed through Wendover (which made me giggle as in my head I hear ‘bend over’ – I know, sad.)

The amazing tiny petrol station on the gorgeous streets of Great Missenden.

The beautiful homes that filled Lewes and were complimented with gorgeous shops and cute little cafes where you could buy a meal, some tobacco, a 10p mix, a newspaper and a table all under one roof.

The gorgeous old pile that is Buxted Park Hotel where my sister got married and where we spent two amazing nights…

..and where you could wake up to views like this.

(Mr B took this from our window while Misses E, M and I were sleeping.)

Or the beautiful City of Cambridge which we visited on the way home.

I’m sure you’ll agree any of these would be fine and dandy.  That’s what I thought too, until a chance meeting with a bus.  Seriously, public transport has changed our lives.  You see, all the above are gorgeous yes, but they pale into insignificance when we discovered there is a place that we Beaufoix’s truly belong. Miss M especially would fit in perfectly. Seriously, it’s as if it was named for us;

Trumpington.  Sighhhhhhh.  Perfect.

    Quality shots.

    There are some lovely places around, quite a few round here. I don’t have to look far for oak beams, I have a lovely one over my fireplace, and two of these belters in my bedroom.

    A BUS!!!! A double decker bus! I told Four about those and she laughed at me and told me not to be silly and tell fibs. Oh my California girl.. If I told her it was going to Trumpington she’d put me on the naughty step..

    Oh, how beautiful…. I do hope one day I can go back. I was there in 1976! If I won a lottery, I think one of the first things I’d do is bring daughter over to see your wonderful country.

    Glad you had such a good trip. The wedding looks like it was great fun. You must be proud of those lovely girls. Did your sister deliberately wait until they were the ideal age for weddings before tying the knot?
