This is a bit of an experiment. Not in the test tubes and bunsen burners kind of way, but in the ‘Mr B set up my wireless for me’ kind of way.
So, I’m actually outside in my back garden.
I’m not sure how far into the garden this will work, but I’m hoping I can actually go and sit on the grass instead of just in my little porch, though to be honest that in itself is pretty cool.
Today has been a good day so far. Miss M didn’t wake me up at a mad hour, although the two blokes next door were shouting one of their cats at 3.39am which woke me for a little while. (I’m assuming it was their cat…unless they have a friend with a name that sounded very much like Fluffy??). Anyway, I got back to sleep pretty quick and my girls were fabulous this morning. Miss M dressed herself and actually managed not to look like a clown. Miss E got herself and her sister some breakfast and I got half an hour lie in and lots of snuggles on the sofa.
Several really cool things have happened today, apart from the above.
Firstly my dad arrived with my new washer.
Oh my BOB!
I had no idea how hard it would be not having one but it’s been hell, mostly for my mum as she’s been keeping up with me and my grubby kids ’smalls’ (some of them not so…) for the past 3 weeks. Miss E was her usual sarky little self when I mentioned my joy at being able to wash my own pants…
Miss E: ”Yeah Mum, that’s great, we have a washer. Ex-cit-ing.”
Little minx.
Also I have inherited my parents’ ancient tumble dryer for those days when the rain rains and I am in need of dry clothes pretty darn quick. As part of my rental agreement I can’t dry stuff on radiators due to it damaging the walls, so I’m thinking in the winter this approximately 25 year old machine will come in very handy. (They even still have the instruction booklet.)
Right, I’m going to venture a little further into the garden and see if I can bring you with me…
You can feel the breeze right? The grass beneath your fingers, the gentle tickle of an ant crawling up your left shin? That’s because we’re al fresco people. Ho yes. Wow, this is just the best.
Anyway, where was I, yes, so, I have a new washer, an old tumble dryer, Mr B came for lunch and took away my smiling kids. The sun is shining and today is a good day here. I hope it is for you too.

I’m so happy for you Jo, you sound so put together and happy and I know it’s been rough on you. I’ve been away awhile, in Hospital, but I’m back now and anxious to catch up with you and the girls…I love your place and the back garden and don’t even mind the ant crawling up my left shin…long as he doesn’t bite, he’s safe from my fast swatting hand!!
Lovely post…
hugs
Sandi

Hooray! Good news at last. Does you posh Mac reverse photos because your garden looks ‘backwards’? Is that a design flaw? Crikey! Glad you’re able to blog in the garden now in clean clothes!!!
As an aside, our Girls Aloud tickets arrived today. I’ve just blogged about it. And I’m the first commenter on your blog!

Oh. I’m the second commenter, Sandi got in before me as I was writing mine, how quick was she???

Yes, it is a good day. Or has been so far, although it is quickly going downhill.
Daughter had her 5th birthday party (a month after her birthday as it originally had to be postponed due to a blizzard), and all was merry and happy. One of the presents was Moon Sand, and I thought to myself “Hm, I remember reading a blog post about how Moon Sand is a waste of time. I’ll hide that away – she’s got so many prezzies she won’t notice, and then I’ll either pass it on, or try and change it, or something”. As soon as the party was over, Daughter said “oooh, where’s the Moon Sand, I’ve always wanted Moon Sand”, and I didn’t have the heart not to give it to her. It was the first thing she wanted. It’s all in the power of advertising – she’s seen it on tv, and it does indeed look great on tv. She even informed me that it doesn’t dry up like playdough – “it says so on tv”.
Anyway, I had been racking my brains to remember who’d blogged about it, and I think it was you. If so, you might be interested to know that I completely and utterly share your opinion. (If not, well, you’re probably pretty bored by now.) It makes a huge mess. The tiny play mat is a waste of space. The molds are odd – you can hardly make out what the shapes are meant to be (one is a treasure chest with treasure spilling out, another is a swimmer reclining in a strange pose). It goes everywhere.
It’s difficult to mold, and when you’ve made a shape, there’s nothing more you can do with it. So if you’re 5, you make some shapes, make a huge mess, and lose interest in about 10 minutes or less. There’s no container to keep it in except the very flimsy plastic bags. Moon Sand has no redeeming feature at all.
And I’ve got news for the advertising people. Playdough doesn’t dry out if you keep it in the tub. And it doesn’t make a huge mess all over everywhere (well, it does, but not anywhere near as bad as Moon Sand).
Happy Sunday, Jo.

Jo is the champion of moon sand consumers everywhere. It’s rumored she is going to have a regular slot on the next season of Watchdog actually.
I have tried blogging from the garden, but the sun gets on the screen too much. I do very much enjoy blogging from the toilet though. all my best thinking is done in there you know. In fact (ennnnngg) I’m writing this comment (ennnnnnnggg) from there right now ( *splosh* ahhh)

That looks like a lovely little house and you sound so happy there Jo.

I bet little Miss E will appreciate that washer when it comes her turn to help out!
How lovely you can now sit outside and blog! LOL! I tried but the sun kept getting in the way! I could not see my screen properly!

Sandi thank you. So sorry you’ve been so ill and glad you’re on the mend. HUgs back to you too.
Rosie, yay on the tickets, and yes it does reverse stuff. There’s probably a way to sort that but I haven’t found it yet. I haven’t looked all that hard though.
Sybil, it did thank Bob. Hope yours stayed fab too.
Iota, yep, it was me. Isn’t it just blumming cr*p? Sighhhh. ANd it’s because stray bits of play doh do dry out that it’s so easy to clean up. TSk. Blumming Moon sand.
WT, yep. Lucky.
Corey it was great although I’m sure I’ll get sun glare too, but I can’t wait to sit out there with the girls and blog/surf.
Dan that just made me laugh my head off. Seriously, I’m injured here. I’m glad you’ve found your happy blogging place though.
Akela I’m doing ok. The house is lovely and I’m full of hope which is a nice way to feel. x
Karisma, yep, she’ll love it, hee hee. We don’t get as much sun as you do so maybe we’ll get away with it??
