There are many reasons why a person might want to attend a Church Garden Party.
Like, erm,
the multitude of unwanted old toys your kids tend to come home with.
or
the yummy home made cakes that have rolled into a squishy ball of goo by the time you take them out of your bag.
or
the interesting stuff you can win.
But the best reason?

The bottle stall. Especially if you head over in the last half hour or so.
Mwah ha ha haaaa.
Myself and the lovely Nic are off into Notts tonight for a single girls night out. We’ve had ice cream, veggie sushi and a dose of Twilight on Blu Ray, so we’re ready for a chilled but fabulous night. Hope you all have the same.

How can you have vegetable sushi without all that delicious fish? Did you have wonderful things to dip it in, or did you forgo those as well? I will never forget my first taste of sushi. It was in San Francisco and I was hooked for life. Now I need some really bad. Gosh, I wish you hadn’t mentioned it and the rice is so good and sticky. I can never make it like that. Have a great night out and don’t be too shy!

I was trying to describe this great English tradition to a small group of Americans, and they just couldn’t get past the fact that a church function could include so much booze. Well done!

umm, that vodka blue bottle? Were it empty, Pet? If not, I’ll take mine with just a touch of OJ…

Sybil it made me giggle so much coming home with a bag full of booze.
Green Stone Woman, I hope you got some sushi. I’ve never had the fish one as I’ve been veggie since I was 16. We didn’t have dips, just soy sauce but it was very nice.
Expat it would be wrong if there were no booze. Such traditions should always be upheld.
SandyCalico it was fabulous.
Rosie I was surprised I didn’t see you there. Ok, I’m lying.
Sandi it’s full but it won’t be straight vodka but some kind of scary mix of vodka and pop. We may force it down but I’m not expecting to like it.
