Reasons to be cheerful part 3

Blog

Feeling better today, partly because of all your comments, partly because my new car is parked happily outside my house, nestled into the kerb like a sleeping wildebeest, sighhhh, but mainly because I started the day with the following statement from Miss M…

Miss M;  ”Mummy, my nappy is like a carriage for wee.”

I am so proud.

Nb.  Nappy = diaper, and yes my 4 year old still wears them at night. She’s just not ready.  Her sister was the same, in fact when I attempted to night train her she stated that she liked weeing her nappy because ‘it was warm’.  She was dry by 5 though so either our house got warmer or her, erm, pee got cooler.

Amy was still in nappies at 4. It’s just healthier not to push it I think.

Glad your feeling a bit better.

Once again, I love the way that girl’s mind works.

And so glad you’re feeling cheerier. It’s a great thing to know the dark moods can be fought off!

Kids are just so honest…and true….and pure joy. They see and say it like it is. :) for some…the nappy is comforting indeed.

Goad to hear you’re feeling a little better. Don’t worry about Miss M. still wearing a nappy, some girls take longer than others.

PS. I’m still waiting for a picture of the new motor.

What a wonderful description! From henceforth, all Charlie’s nappies will be known as wee-carriages.

I have a child who, when accused of peeing within seconds of me putting on his night-time pull-up, simply grinned an angelic grin, and confessed to liking the warm feeling.

    They’re so DARN EXPENSIVE, though!

Same child was, age 3, dry at night for 2 weeks, with the help of a sticker chart with a Bionicle at the end of it. He then claimed that unless he could get a Bionicle every 2 weeks, it wasn’t worth the effort, and he was going to go back into pull-ups. With the idiocy that is parenting, instead of saying “no way Jose”, we decided we didn’t want to make a big deal about it all, for the sake of the older brother (shared bedroom) who was age 7 and still not dry, so we said “OK then”, thinking we’d call his bluff and he wouldn’t really. That decision cost us – literally – another 3 years of expensive pull-ups.

Still, if that is the worst decision I make, as a parent, I guess I haven’t done too badly.

By the way, don’t bother to waste money on washable night-time pants. I bought 2 pairs (16 quid) at one point, different brands to see which worked best, and they were both hopeless. Soaking bed each time. Unless things have come on a lot since then, which was, I suppose, 4 years ago.
