The Highlight of a Big Day

Blog

On a day when you’ve become the proud new owner of a cuddly Bolt and a gorgeous Bolt ball.

When you’ve clambered about at the feet of Robin Hood

And explored Nottingham Castle with your big sis and your little friend

When you’ve been flung into the air by lovely Jay who you haven’t seen in two years, and eaten burgers barbecued by the lovely Podda who’s going to be a daddy soon.

When you’ve gathered snails and made leafy beds for them in a warm yet shady spot by a wall

And when you’ve said ‘hello’ to lovely Lu’s baby inside her tummy (in the middle), and suggested to her that a good boy’s name would be Ziggy or Zaggy, and you’ve cuddled Dezzi who’s come all the way from NZ for a visit and last saw you when you were two.

When you’ve danced on the patio, eaten lunch in the cool Atlas Cafe, studied craftsmen building a beach in the middle of slab square and watched an angry man shout at a lady in Tesco for no reason at all and pronounced him to be ‘grumpy’, and stopped in at Granny’s for a quick cuddle and been given a book about trumping.

When you’ve done all that, what is it you choose to tell your Daddy about when you ring him to say night night?

Miss M:  ”Daddy, we went to Lucy’s and there was a tree and we mustn’t park the car there next time because the birds eat the berries and den dey do purple poos.”

I love the things that kids select from their day as the “news headlines”. I always eavesdrop when my two are telling their dad stuff when he’s been away for a couple of days – it’s brilliant.

Iota I suppose so. I mean, if she did a purple poo I would be telling everyone.

Corey I suppose it is hon. I just wish she’d found the other stuff as exciting, hee hee.

Absolutely Write it is very funny isn’t it? I love hearing them chat as well. I love how they interact with each other. :D

Sandy Calico I suppose purple poo is a bit of a talent and therefore newsworthy. :D

Akela yep. ANd for a kid, poo is important. :D

Kim it made me snigger. And thanks hon. I was with people I love and they always make me feel completely at ease and happy with myself. They’re the best. x

That’s hilarious! Although anything about poo is always going to be remembered and repeated for eternity. That and the words ‘bum’ and ’soft play’…

Yep – it is ALL about the poo with kids!!
Years ago I went with my mom and her school to the circus. The favorite thing for the kids?
When the elephants took a poo. They thought that was hysterical.
    Figures.
