My cousin Vic is one of a kind.

Strong willed, outgoing, loyal, stubborn, adventurous, practical, hilarious, enthusiastic, loving.

There is no one like her and she never changes.  You take her as you find her and if you don’t like what you find then too bad.  The thing is, you probably will like her.  You might be a little unnerved by her, but you’ll like her.

When we were kids she was always considered a tomboy.  She loved to get messy, if I remember correctly she once ate a worm, and you would always find me and her and my brothers under a table at family parties with a stash of crisps and cocktail sausages playing some kind of adventure game.

This weekend she married the equally fantastic and fabulous Colin at the registry office in Wisbech, and it has been brilliant.  Friends, family and RAF/Army/Rugby colleagues all came together for a hog roast, a game of rounders and a boogie to music provided by a local band.

(This is Vic scoring a rounder.  She batted first.  She had cycling shorts on under her dress, hee hee.)

Anyway, Vic and Col asked me to write a little something for the ceremony which Miss E read for them, so this is what we went with.  It kind of sums them up.

‘ Often when two people first meet there is music. Sometimes there is dancing.  When Vickie and Colin met there was music and dancing and bruising, mainly due to the Tucson two step.  But there were many more laughs than bruises, and while the bruises faded the laughter remained and grew into this amazing relationship between these two fantastic people.  Two people who have hearts as big as their enormous back garden.  Friends and family as different and numbered as their pets, and ferrets that in Vickie’s own words “only come out on special occasions.”  So I’d check your pockets everybody, and should you find a little visitor, remember bruises fade, but the laughter will remain, as will the love.’

We had a brilliant weekend, and my family are just the best.  Love you all loads.   Lou, Daz, Tom, Jack and Georgie you were missed, but hope you’re having a wonderful time.

Mwah.
