Blog

I’m sitting drying my hair.  Miss M walks into the room and watches me for a moment.  Her thoughts are elsewhere but her eyes follow my hand as it shakes the hair dryer back and forth over my locks.  (Because when you shake the hair dryer over your hair it dries faster.  No really.)   As I turn off the dryer and begin to brush my hair, Miss M holds out her small hand and begins to draw circles softly in her palm.

MIss M:  ”Mummy, wouldn’t it be funny if this part of your hand was dare…

She tracks a movement from her palm to her fingers.

Miss M:  ”And this part of your hand was dare.”

She reverses the movement.

Miss M:  ”Den it would be like a hand guitar.”

Me:  ”That would be weird M.  And, yes, I suppose it would be kind of like a guitar.  Sort of…”

And I’m thinking, ‘What???  Oh my Bob, my kid is either going to be a scientific/creative genius, or a modern day female Frankenstein.”

Shiver.
