A Glimpse of the Future?

Blog

Miss E turned 9 in August.  Because her party is in the middle of the summer holidays we tend to organise her party before school breaks up.  This year we couldn’t get a date until afterwards so 2 days after they returned to school, 10 little girls visited Elliegance for a Nail Art and Sparky Makeover Party.

Miss E’s parties have always been pretty simple.  Music, maybe a bouncy castle, games, food, cake, badda bing badda boom, instant kiddy joy.  But this year we realised it might be time to try something a little more sophisticated.   I’m not saying she’s all grown up or anything, but her interests are changing.  She’s developed a greater depth of understanding and sensitivity, a gentle sarcasm, and a certain degree of maturity.  So when my sis-in-law’s mum mentioned the lovely beauty salon and coffee shop that did kids parties, we decided to go for it.

And it was so so lovely.

See their little smiling faces?  :D

What was also lovely was that while they enjoyed their makeover, they still played.  They danced, ran around, giggled, munched crisps and cake, belted Happy Birthday out at the top of their lungs and looked after each other.

What was less lovely (snort), was the ‘who can slurp a whole cup of blackcurrant juice the fastest’ moment.
I mean, drinking games at nine, blimey, Bob help us all in a few years time.

I’m a bit scared.

Birthday parties are so sophisticated nowadays. We had nothing like it when I was a kid. Lucky Miss E.

Sybil it was great and it went so fast. Go for it. Gilda will love it. X

Corey E would have loved that but no, we saw them last week, and we’re having a weekend with them in about 2 weeks time. I can’t wait. :D

Irene I know. I’d have loved this at E’s age. I still loved the parties I had too though. :D

Drinking games, now your talking. You can shove your nail parties up your ass though.

I’d ask for my money back if I were you. That makeup artist made them look all pixilated.

(well someone had to say it. i’m actually surprised that Ian didn’t)

Spd, how rude. And I bet Max would love to have his nails done. Ask him if you dare. :D

Potty Mummy, the force is strong with them. Though I have never done the Quantro challenge in front of my kids, honest. :D

Akela it was so lovely. :D

Dan, you know I thought they looked a bit odd. And Ian was too busy being scared of make up, the pansy.

Ahh, they look like angels. I wouldnt worry about the drinking games yet – at least its only blackcurrent…..and they have food in front of them. When its vodka and fag butts I’d start to worry a bit!

Yes, be afraid. Be very afraid.

It won’t be long before the conversation includes references to their “favorite” vodka flavour (yes, I recently had that discussion with 18 yo daughter). Gad!

Cooooooel! I rememeber going to parties in the 80’s (when I was little obviously) with crimped hair and bright pink nail varnish thinking I rocked :D . Never had such a cool party though!

Thank bob they were only drinking black currant, plenty of time before they’ll be drinking anything scarier….I hope!
