Feeling a little melancholy tonight. I’m a bit hormonal and missing my kids in the day time I think. I’m so used to having Miss M chattering away beside me, and instead I have this tired little person who is either grumpy or completely manic and hurling herself around like a mad child. Her swimming teacher asked me tonight whether she ever did slow.
Miss M is doing pretty fab at school though and E has settled straight away with her new teacher so that’s all good.
My back is pretty much sorted so that means I might swim this week, gulp. I put my cozzy on the other night and suddenly became even more scared, but I have a cunning plan. I will wear a swimming hat and draw on a false beard, moustache, sideburns, big eyebrows and a pointy bit on my forehead. Then people will think I am Ming the Merciless and not a portly parent blogger attempting to lose a few pounds.

And, AND, I’ve been hearing this song on the radio a lot but kept missing who it was by, so I googled it. It’s by Plain White T’s and it makes me go all squishy.
Oh and one last thing, my British Mummy Bloggers friend Kate Morris wrote a book, The Seven Year Itch. She sent me a copy, I read it and I liked it. You might too. I especially loved the dialogue between the main character, Ellie, and her best friend Tilda as it reminded me of the daft conversations I have with my mates and the fact we just ‘get’ each other.

But if you’re Ming, surely you will be undone by a Flash(er)? Best not, Jo…

Darling, even with a moustache you’re undeniably gorgeous. And that song – my fave ever!!! ‘Oh, what you do to meeeeee’. Love it!

I have tagged you over at my blog… x
P.S. You look gorgeous with that tash and beard, very becoming

I’ll bet you look better than you think you do in a swimsuit. We women are too hard on ourselves!
My daughter loves the Plain White T’s.

Ha! You make a great, albeit gorgeous Ming!
Loves the PWTs too.

Oh yes, good song. It’s the hopefulness and expectation that gives me the squishies.

Dressing up while swimming is Inspired. I will copy you so that people think my hairy legs wont matter. Hooray! Oh, and the song is, as you say, squishy material. Lovely.

Thank you for the reference to my book. Hurray.
I went swimming yesterday, in an outdoor pool in the thick grey cloud and managed to do 22 lengths of a huge sized pool, but it took 20 minutes and I remember a gym coach once saying that nothing useful happens until you have swum at least 30 minutes. So it was all pointless then!

I don’t think it was such a good idea to wear your disguise to school today, Jo.

Excellent song ( and uch better for rattling around in your head that the theme tune to ITNG!) I like your glamorous new look too

I think you’ll fool them. The disguise is pretty convincing.

I’ve been feeling melancholy too and I know that means I have to take extra special care of myself and do only kind things for myself and not make my life complicated. It’s “treat me well” time.

Hi Jo – I like that song too – I understand that the comment made by Mr. V on Facebook expressed his strange attraction to Ms Ming – how disturbing.

It’s the time of year, too, I think. I love autumn but I’m always a bit gloomy around the time of a season-change for some reason. Good ‘tache, though. That should help.
