I Was Going To…But

Blog, review

I was going to write a review in this post.

I was going to write a review about a HP Photosmart Premium Fax All in One that I have been given

I was going to be honest, as I always am, while attempting to make it entertaining as, let’s face it, reviews are often more than a little on the dull side.

I was going to be nice about some things…like the fact it was easy to set up, (and that’s a big thing for me as I’ve been known to break toasters through sheer ridiculousness)

I was going to say that it was even easy to set up on two laptops, my Mac and my girls’  Windows one, which again is impressive if you are me.

I was going to tell you that it prints fabulously, and made wonderful animals for Miss E to stick on her mountain project.

And I was going to tell you that I can even send things to print from my garden or bathroom which excited me beyond reason.  I know.  Weird!

I was going to say not so nice things too

Like the fact that they’re quite pricey, and that the ink is quite pricey (but then isn’t it always?), and that when I turn the off button it doesn’t always seem to want to turn off..

I was going to do all of that.

But

BUT

IT’S FAULTY.

I can only scan and photocopy through the top feeder instead of the openy uppy bit, so if say, I wanted to photocopy something bigger, like…my bottom for instance, then it would be impossible.  Tsk.  And while the printer was free, and it does lots of  things, how can I write a review on a faulty product?

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve tried to sort it by contacting the people who sent it to me, but firstly I got a short email with the HP Helpline number on it, and then, when I replied that I didn’t feel comfortable ringing them about a product I hadn’t actually purchased and asked if it was possible for HP to contact me, a time was arranged but they didn’t ring, and I’ve heard nothing since.

So, I can’t write a review like I was going to, and I can’t really be arsed with following it up anymore.  And,   I’m not letting it stress me out any longer, so sorry HP, this is all you’re getting.

If you’re not happy, phone my helpline.

Jo, this is brillaint. Shame on HP for their poor standard of customer service. This is blogging with integrity at its best – this is why reviews on blogs are of value – because we are open and honest and have no hidden agenda. Jo for Blog President.

Fair play Josephine, they sent me one too, I agreed to answer some questions for their in-house mag & adverts, however I kept getting emails about when I was going to blog about it, to which I replied with ‘never – as agreed’.

Poor show HP. I like the odd bad review shows that you’re being honest, and I’ll remember that when you start raving about something :)

Good review and they should have just sent you another one straight off, I’m pleased mine was ok if that’s the hassle you’ve had.

Speaking from a techie POV it’s really weird that it’s scanning/copying from the feeder but not from the glass as it’s the same interface it needs to go through, if anything it’s normally the other way round. Drop me a mail I have an idea of what it is that’s wrong xx

wooch coochy coo hoo – that’s a round of big red faces in HP HQ – and on the subject of their printers – just because I have one, doesn’t mean I need daily software updates flashing at me on my computer screen – it’s a printer not corporate-wide server….tsk

I hope you’ve recorded a nice message for your helpline, ideally with the children playing Greensleeves on trumpets in the background, saying, ‘your call is important to us, please stay on the line …..’ x
