More than a Friend

Blog

This is not the post I was going to write tonight.

But you see, I have this friend.

She’s one of my best friends.

She’s warm, funny, grumpy, witty, sarky, sweet, beautiful, shy, silly, wonderful, brilliant and she has been there for me through some of the hardest times of my life.  She’s kept me sane, kept me grounded, and kept me going.  She’s been the voice of reason when I had none.  The support when it seemed mine had crumbled.  A calm voice in amongst an onslaught of so many others that could barely contain their own emotions, let alone deal with mine.

And right now she is hurting.

She has been through so much, yet she handles herself with grace and dignity and I am so proud of her.  I cannot imagine my life without her.  I cannot imagine my kids lives without her.  She is my friend, and my family and I truly hope she knows how much she means to me.

So right now I’m thinking about how I can tell her.  Or how I can show her.  Because I need her to know.

Because she’s my friend.

I think you’ve told her, I think you’ve shown her, I think she knows.
I suspect she’s cried, I suspects she adores you too.
I know she’s smiling at this post.
