It seems my family hasn’t had enough of the lurgy this year. Miss E came home from school with a high fever, a pale face and as much energy as a very tired prune.
When we arrive home I help her from the car while Miss M heads for the little girl’s room. (Apparently she is too busy to use it at school.)
I settle my hot, fever frazzled little girl on the settee and head to the kitchen for thermometer, 6+ calpol and a glass of water. When I return Miss M is tucking her big sister up in her own Kim Possible blanket and and then deposits a small brown teddy under her arm.
And me? I have melted into a pile of sticky stuff on the floor. The medicine bottle, luckily, merely bounces on the carpet. The thermometer takes a nose dive into the water, while my smallest child continues her administrations to the sick.
I know it won’t last long. I know the minute Miss E perks up they will be squabbling again, taking each others toys, arguing over whose turn it is on the wii, but for now they are there for each other and it’s a thing I love to see.

It’s lovely to see siblings looking after each other, even if they do try to murder each other at other times!

What can I say – my two do occasionally show a little love to each other too, get that camera out. On a more serious note I hopw that this weekend sees you free of the lurgy.

Thanks Madhouse. I think we’ve had our share now. Though Miss E vomited this morning but I’m hoping it was down to the coughing.

Bless, my girls sometimes suprise me by showing a rare glimpse of compassion for each other. Your right though it doesn’t last long but it makes all the screaming and squabbling a little more bareable!

Sweet. I have small boys who are just starting to interact and the eldest (3) tries to comfort the littley if he gets upset. Tugs at the heart strings. Hope Miss E quickly recovers.

Oh Captain Underpants is sick too tonight…fever, all limp and languid. Typical stuff. But what has been completely atypical is the fact that Johnny Drama has been extremely caring – tucking his blanket in on the sofa, fetching him water with lots of ice, sharing his favourite teddy. It’s amazing isn’t it?? I too have been a sickly little puddle of goo, melting in all this sibling love. It might be back to wars over Transformers tomorrow – but right now, my heart is still a big gooey mess of bliss xx

Awww – hope she feels better soon! Enjoy those sweeties – you’ve done a great job with them, Jo!

You have good kids, Jo. They care about each other. That’s a great thing. It comes out at the right times.

Those moments of sibling harmony are so lovely. Particularly when they don’t occur often (as in my house hold). Mine had a moment the other day and I went into a pile of sickly sweet ah. Even better they did it outside in front of other people who also went ah. And then gave me approving nods on my parenting skills to be raising two such lovely boys. Double ah.
As soon as the Grannies had gone round the corner they were back to belting each other…

Oh God that’s cute! Little elf was similarly poorly this morning but, lying in the crook of my arm, she carefully pulled the duvet over ME after I’d pulled it over her. There are days when I really do believe that humans, left to themselves and probably in a foxhole, really do care for each other…
