Yes that is my kitchen, but all is not lost.

Even though we are staying at my poor Mum’s for the foreseeable future.

Even though it is cold and snowy and gusty and Mr Z the rabbit has had to move into my parents utility room with a very noisy washer and a family of abandoned wellies

Even though I let my four year old pack her own bag in all the c0mmotion and hence tomorrow my child will be wearing pink shorts, a pink and green T Shirt and two sunhats

Even then, all is not lost.

I have wine.  I have chocolate and I have my parents fabulous shower.

All will be well.

I hope so too. Apparently plumbers are coming on Tuesday to get started. Till then we’ll be at my Mum’s. I’m so lucky they’ve got room but it’s weird sleeping in my old bedroom.

Christ on a skateboard! (Uh-oh – can’t risk traveling to Eire now). Did that just happen? Or were there warning signs? Our worst nightmare – hope it’s sorted out soon.

    • Jo Beaufoix Says:

Well I think he might quite like it on a skateboard. He could do fabulous stunts and nobody would realise it was actually down to those omniscient powers and stuff. It would be a larf. ;D

And there were signs but they were put down to a poorly sealed bath which wasn’t attached to its legs or the overflow pipe, and also an eroded outside wall that led to extremely damp bricks and leakage there. Hence the apparently leaking toilet pipe went unnoticed. Boo.
The plumbers are coming on Tuesday. Fingers crossed.

Ugh, been there, only the leak was on the second floor, and we were out of town for a week or two, so the ruination was large.
A little plumbing, a little plaster and paint, a little wrangling with the insurance company, and everything will be back like new.

    • Jo Beaufoix Says:

That’s what we’re hoping JJ. Annoying but it could have been worse. If it had been the other end of the sink it could have landed on our glass gerbil tank and there may have been fatalities of the small furry kind. Yours sounds a nightmare though. Yikes.

Yep, sorry about that, Jo. The Dotterel is right, I am to blame. But you DID tell me I could bring fireworks over on New Year’s Eve.

    • Jo Beaufoix Says:

A leaking toilet pipe apparently. We were away when it happened thank Bob or it could have been one of our heads it landed on I suppose. Worse things happen at sea and all that. The thing is, I’d brought the rabbit hutch inside while I was away so he was warm and dry. When we got home I thought he’d somehow made the mess. Then I looked up…:D

Leaky loo. It must have been happening for a while but there was no real sign till a drip on Friday. We had a plumber booked for Monday. It decided not to wait. Harumph.

Hi lovely. We’re ok. It probably gave the rabbit and gerbils an enormous fright but we were actually out when it happened. I’m glad as the plaster was surprisingly heavy when I moved some bits from the top of the rabbit hutch. Hugs to you too. x

Hidden water leak we think Irene. It was a drip on Friday and a collapse on Saturday. Mad. We’re ok though and at least we have a place to go. My mum and dad have been great. xx

Oy! That is no way to start out a new year. I too have an older house and have come home to surprises. Good you have an escape plan and well, maybe there is a new kitchen in the deal?
Happy New Year Jo, got that one bad out of the way…now you can live.

    • Jo Beaufoix Says:

We kind of think that too. If it was goping to happen then it’s better to happen sooner rather than later so we can sort it and move on. Mad way to start the New year though. :D

Me oh my…. now, what will cause more damage, the burst pipe or the workmen when they get round to fixing it? No good. Still, so long as there’s hot showers and wine it’s not that bad.

Oh my God! What a start to the year! I laughed at the child-picked outfit… I let my daughter pack when she goes to her Dads – this weekend she took a rather lovely High School Musical sundress, plastic dress-up high heels and a fake fur shrug. :-)
