My lovely friend and sometimes arch nemesis, Ms Rosie Scribble, and also the gorgeous and lovely Emily from Maternal tales have both tagged me in the extremely talented and down right annoyingly fabulous Tara’s “Favourite Photo Meme.” in which she asks,
What is your favourite photograph. And why?
It can be your wedding day, your children, walking in the park/on a beach/hand in hand. It can be your back garden on a frosty morning, a holiday photo, the day you met someone famous, the day you met your other half.
It can be a lost relative, a family gathering, a picture of you in your youth.
Post it, say why it’s your fav then invite someone else to do the same.
It’s as simple as that.
Well this is mine…

It was taken in Wembury, Plymouth, in August 2008 when Miss E was 8 and Miss M 3. It was just a moment, but I love it.
My two little girls, standing together, staring out at the sea, at the big wide world beyond them. It gives me this feeling of them looking towards the future (which is a bit scary), but I also love how their closeness shines through, and how their little legs are the same shape, and how good it makes me feel that they have each other.
This was our last summer holiday as a two parent family. My girls do still have two parents who love them dearly, but they, Miss E and Miss M, are the constant, the ‘whole’ that Mr B and I both have to share.
The picture below, Miss M’s First Day in Reception from September 2009, was a close second, but the beach pic just gets me right in the heart…mostly in a good way.

So many people have already been tagged in this, but I’m going to go for lovely Potski Mumski, who I owe a meme to, and because she’s just one of the nicest bloggers I’ve ever met as well as being a fabulous writer, and, the equally fabulous and one of the nicest bloggers I’ve never met, Iota who will be starting a very special meme soon. (And sometimes ‘nice’ is a perfectly ok word if it’s written with warmth and good feeling, which these are.)
Looking forward to ‘blumming marvellous and very clever and also good at pulling faces at yetis’ Erica’s photo montage of all the pics Tara has gathered so far.

That photo is amazing Jo. It ’says’ so much and is one of those you can just stare and stare at.
Well done you. Better late than never … !

Oh my, they both brought a tear to my eyes

As Tara says (well sort of), this is very late, but also very lovely and I knew you would choose those two pictures. They are lovely.
Arch nemesis? *rushes off to google the word*
Smirk.
And stop posting at midnight or I shall shout at you in a maternal way for being tired. I have my eye on you.

Both photos are evocative in their different ways. I find the second one very touching – Big Sis being the protector and guide. But the first one, as you say, has that feeling of what the future might hold for them.

I’ve just delurked at Tara’s so I thought I’d grab the bull by the horn and delurk here as well. It’s proving to be quite painless, this delurking malarkey!
They are both lovely pictures. The top one is one that should be hanging on your wall I think.

Both those pics are gorgeous!!! But I agree, the seaside one takes my breath away.
