Slow and steady a small girl tackles the carpeted hill that leads the way to sleep. Each step is a quarter of her height, a full bend of her knee, an effort; yet onward and upward she plods, a soldier of fortune forging her weary way forward in the hope of rested limbs and gentle dreams.
Nearing the top, she is suddenly still. A second passes, then another, then she glances back at her companion and story teller, and says;
Miss M: ”Can you see my bottom?”
I stop peer up at my youngest child, a smile nudging its way through pursed lips, a frown creasing my forehead.
Me: ”Erm, I can.”
She grins, her eyes closed, her head nodding slowly as she turns once more to face the last few stairs, then bends and yells…
Miss M: ”IN YOUR FACE”.
..then she runs up the last few steps and disappears giggling into her room.
My head falls off in shock, and yet I am strangely proud.

And did she feel the pea under the mattresses? Ooops, wrong story. Sorry.
February 19th, 2010 at 1:24 pm
Sadly she is more likely to pea ON the mattress. Seriously, she makes me howl sometimes and then I think, Oh my Bob, what will happen when she’s a teenager?

Dudelet (jsut turned 6) is a little less subtle on the way to his bed, generally pulling his pants down and chanting “Look at my bottom!” for anything up to 5 minutes. I think pride went out the window a while back. But, likewise, he’s lucky he’s cute.
