Some things are more important – more news

Blog

I was going to write about the success of Miss E’s first trip away today.  I was going to tell you how she loved every minute, even the six hour walk, the two hour outdoor swim and getting up early to help make breakfast for everyone on her first morning.  I was going to pontificate on my nine year old rising to the challenge of making her own bed – as in fitting sheets, quilt cover, pillowcase – and that of the three friends she was sharing a room with.  I planned to describe in minute detail her ‘pond dipping’ adventure, orienteering, cuddling of sad friends, and the fact she did NOT puke on the bus.  (Hooray).

But tonight there are other things on my mind.  You see, there have been two babies born in my family recently, both to the brothers’ of my sister-in-laws’.  They are gorgeous little  boys, much wanted and already very much loved, but one is very poorly.  He’s been in hospital for almost a week now and today a biopsy of his liver has been performed to work out was is happening in his tiny three week old body.  So please, if you have a moment, send him, his Mummy and Daddy and his big sister good vibes, reiki, prayers, or whatever is your thing.  I’m just thinking if I can do nothing else I can send some love and positive thoughts their way.

He’s so small and helpless and we’re all kind of afraid.

Thank you.

UPDATE

Thank you so much for all your prayers and good wishes.  I have passed them on to my sis-in- law.  It’s looking like baby R has Biliary Atresia, which means a 6 hour op to build a loop so that bile can drain, and if that doesn’t work, a liver transplant.  Please keep him, his Mum and Dad (Racheal and Steven) and his 1 year old sister (N) in your thoughts.

I’m a bit odd and believe in talking to anyone out there willing to listen to ask for help when I need it – I’m asking for tons of help for the new baby. I’m life’s eternal optimist I really hope things go ok. Most doctors say that although babies look so tiny and frail to us they are in fact more resilient than we think. Much love to all xx

Hi again – sorry my reply was ambiguous – mine are God willing fine, other than runny noses; we’re sending all lovely thought to this little boy, as you mentioned above the doctors caught it early. I happen to know of a few very premature babies who had a tricky start but are now strapping, bounding 5 and 6 year olds ! It’s fabulous that you are doing the walk, well done xx
