Miss M runs in from the garden, her cheeks flushed, her eyes sparkling with what can only be described as pure glee.
Miss M: ”Mummy, Mr Z and Mrs L are staring at each other like they’re engaged.”
I grin at my little girl, amused both by her excitement and by the picture she has painted of our two rabbits sharing loving glances through the slither of mesh that currently separates them until Mr Z has been, erm, de-manned.
She tugs off her shoes and grabs a pear from the bowl as she skips past.
Miss M: ”Yep. I bet soon we’re going to have aLOT of little rabbits running round our garden Mummy.”
I do one of those smiling frowns and turn to look at my youngest child, and I’m thinking, ‘Did she just say that? She’s five…!’
Me: ”Erm, are we M?”
Miss M: ”Yep. They’re going to have a wedding, and a party and all their friends will come.”
Me: ”Snort. That would be lovely.”

Yes, we always figured out a solution on how to get the offspring too when we were little. I didn’t involve anything nasty like sex.

It was such a relief when I realised she was thinking guests and not offspring Nora. SUCH a relief. I want her to live in hopefully blissful ignorance for as long as possible.
