New Home

Blog

We’ve found a house.

The ceilings are not so high, the rooms not quite so full of character that comes not just from age but from lives lived, but it feels good.

It’s smaller, but newer which means things like roof collapses are less likely to happen.

There’s a downstairs cloakroom, no dining room but a huowge lounge with plenty of room for Wii playing which was always slightly risky in our current home.  The garden is low maintenance – decking and pebbles – but there is enough space for two boingy girls, a couple of rabbits, a Mummy and lots of friends.

The only thing I cannot comment on is the neighbours.  We have friends close to our new home, and my lovely brother, SIL and nieces are just a short walk away, but our neighbours will remain a mystery until we move, while our current neighbours are friends who we’ve come to care for and respect.  They will be hard to leave, as will this house has been a haven for us during sad and turbulent times.

At the moment the practical stuff is taking over.  I have to pack, downsize our life and keep two little girls positive and excited about the move.  On Tuesday we go to see our new home together.  I think they’ll like it.  I’m hoping and praying they’ll love it.  But if Miss M’s ‘flag’ she created while at Daddy’s this weekend is anything to go by, we’re going to be just fine.

..because according to the 5-year-old,  this is our new home.

It looks a happy place to be.

You’re right Susan. There just seems to be so much to do. I am having a massive clear out. Everyone keeps telling me it will be so good for me. And I thought I hid how messy I am so well… :D

In some photos of your garden you had a laughing buddha statue. I would really love to know where you bought it from, because I’ve seen one just like it before.

Hi Saana. He’s from a shop called Past Times. I’ve had him about 7 years so I don’t know that they’d still sell them now, but he makes me smile. We’ll find a spot for him at the new place.

Aww, the flag is awesome. It’s extremely important to properly discuss the move and everything around it with the kids. Many feel really offended if their parents don’t prepare them well enough. Anyway, good luck with the move and I’m sure everything will be okay and you will all get used to the new place quickly!
