Sometimes you need a balloon.
When it’s late, and you’ve been dancing with your big sister and your cousins.
When your Mummy’s eyes are bright with smiles and your Gran and Grandad are watching with quiet pride. When your Uncles are buying rounds and and your Aunties look so pretty, and everyone is excited because one new baby is here and another one is on the way.
Sometimes you need a balloon to hold you up and kid them all that you’re not ready for bed because if they see how tired you really are then this lovely night will end.
Sometimes you need a balloon, because if nothing else, when you wake up tomorrow it will still be there and just for a moment it will float you back to a perfect night.

Hee hee, it’s lovely isn’t it? I’d have probably seen you except I was stuck on Rock Hill with a flat tyre. Lovely.
