The other day I saw a man with a very sweeping beard. It was parted in the middle and could be used as a slide for tiny insects. It has moved me to poetry…
Ahhehem, clears throat.
Beard
Oh beautiful beard
As you floated by you tickled me
Not with your fluffy, flicky, endy bits
But with your proud, pruned, preening prescence
on the chin of an otherwise unassuming, long past blooming,
octogenarian, with a hairy ‘un
A flowing avalanche from the chin
You made me grin as you ploughed, straight and proud
towards the crowd at Tesco
And you could keep things in it…where it flicks up at the last minute
Perhaps a pen, or a packet of polos or a tiny surfer going solo on a facial demi-wave
Or a biker called Dave who likes doing stunts, but even if the stunts were bad
oh beard, you are good, bud
Sighhhhhh
I was very cheered by that beard
(Jo Beaufoix July 2011)
ps It was a bit like the middle one of these three from the 2010 World Beard Championships (Full Beard Freestyle Category), but his was longer and had none of the moustache stuff going on. ’Twas fabulous.

His beard sounds AWESOME. Don’t tell Richard and Oli or they’ll want one too…

You swoop like a wave of hair
From chin to out there
There you go.

I assume a man with a beard like that would spend A LOT of time in the bathroom!

I bet. I imagine he has beard stylists and only sleeps on his front.
