Me:  ”What did you have for dinner today girlies?

Miss E:  Cement.

Miss M:  Rice bum.

Hmmmmmmmmmm…

Having spent a fab day at The BBC Good Food Show yesterday  with my friend Nic as well as Madame Taralara,  fabulous Christine Mosler,  gorgeous Rebecca TwoBecomeFour and the smiley and so so lovely Coralie from Teatime in Wonderland, I was looking for something a little bit more, well, food like, but it seems my children do not appreciate the finer things in life, like erm, school dinners.

I am feeling a little inspired after seeing lovely Tim Anderson (this year’s Master Chef winner) compete against past winner Mat Follas in a Greg Wallace and John Torrode hosted cook off.  It was wicked.

I also saw the very lovely and talented Sara Danesin Medio rushing past on her way to the Sainsbury’s Theatre.  Having really enjoyed watching Master Chef this year I was tempted to chase after her and tell her how fabulous I think she is, but luckily Nic discouraged me from my mad stalker urges and I left her alone.

I blame the Todka…

It was so so good wandering around taking in the sites and the SMELLS.  Omg the smells.
Everywhere there was someone cooking, brewing, pouring, serving, chomping, sniffing, slurping and tasting, and we were allowed to join in!

One thing I didn’t sample but seriously wanted to was the stunning Pierre Ledent chocolates.  I have seriously never seen anything quite so beautiful in all my cocoa solids experience.  When I first spotted them I was eyeing them up for Miss E as I thought they were semi-precious stones.

Look

Are they not stunning?

You can keep your Werther’s Originals and their slightly creepy adverts.  If someone really wanted to show me they loved me then these would go down pretty well.  ;D

Sainsbury’s put on a gorgeous spread at lunch time including these brilliant pastry spoons on which you can spread anything you fancy.  These are pate ones and there were humous for us veggies, yum yum.

And the tiny cheeses we sampled were also delicious, especially the stilton.

They’re also only a £1 each from Sainsbury’s so my Mum might just get a couple in her stocking this year.

The thing that made me smile the most though, and that my girls would really appreciate, was this.

So next time someone asks, maybe the conversation will go

What did you have for dinner today girlies?

Miss E: Purple tatties

Miss M: Mauve maris pipers

All of that looks so delicious it made my mouth water. You were lucky you got to go there and taste these wonderful goodies. The pasta shells with humus and the cheeses sound especially tasty. You do move in the right circles, woman. XOX
