My parents are sooooo difficult to buy for.
To be fair this is partly because my Dad’s birthday is in December and my Mum’s is in January. If I just had to think of a gift each it would be fine, but it’s two gifts, and while my Mum is a little easier to please (let’s face it, girls generally are), my Dad is a nightmare.
He’s one of those dad’s who doesn’t like ‘tat’, and doesn’t want you to spend too much on him. Yet I’m sure if we did what he told us to do each year, ‘don’t bother about me, spend it on the kids’, then he’d look all lost and bereft and wander off to wash the car rather than watch everybody else rip off the Christmas paper and exclaim joyously over their gifts.
This year though, Interflora have saved the day.
No I’m not buying him these

or these…

Even though oh my bob aren’t they gorgeous!
But instead I am treating both my Mum and Dad to this

Isn’t it fab?
Interflora have a whole range of Christmas goodies, including Christmas Hampers (like the one above which they sent me to review), as well as plants, chocolates and yummy drinks to share with your loved ons. They’ve gone with a Nostalgia theme this year to embody the ideas of warmth, splendour and old fashioned values and I really think they get it right.
And if that hasn’t already made Christmas shopping a little easier, they’ve even got a ‘gifts for her’ section which I’ll definitely be showing my Dad as otherwise it’ll be that thing where my mum tells me what she likes, I buy it and wrap it up, and my Dad gives me the dosh again.
To be honest I wouldn’t have thought of Interflora as a place for gifts, but there is so much there that I know family and friends would love, especially those living a bit further afield. The prices really do vary and when you think the delivery cost is in there too, then suddenly the value seems so much better.
I was given the stunning Christmas Cracker hamper for this review. It came in a gorgeous wicker basket and is filled with lots of yuletide yummies I know my Mum and Dad will appreciate:
Willowglen Brut Sparkling Wine 75cl
Healthy Ideas Christmas Fruit & Nut Mix 160g
Border Deliciously Different Plain Chocolate Covered Brownies 175g
Furniss Traditionally Baked Shortbread Fingers 150g
Maxwell & Franks Round Top Iced Cake with White Stars
Just Chocolates Chocolate Selection in Red Box 125g
Barfield Bakery Mince Pies x 3
Convivial Yorkshire Natural Sea Salt Crisps 100g
Mondovino Bambino Spicy Moroccan Seed & Nut Crackers 45g
Maxwell & Franks Christmas Pudding with Cider in Foil with Bow 454g
Makes my mouth water just reading that.
An added bonus to this sort of gift is that it doesn’t lay mouldering in a drawer for the next few years, but gets thoroughly enjoyed and you’re left with a retro chic basket to store shoes, make up, blankets etc in, or to recycle next year by filling it with lovely goodies for somebody else.
I am so excited about giving them this this year, even though part of me really wants to keep it for myself. I’ll definitely be wrapping it up quick and hiding it away. Thank you so much Interflora. You’re the best, in fact I might just have to get you under the mistletoe.
