Scratch and Sniff

This is a scratch and sniff post.  If you scratch the onscreen chocolates then sniff your computer it will smell of yummy chocolatey goodness.  It works especially well if you hold a bar of chocolate under your nose as you do it.
Ready?
Ok.  Fill your lungs, breath out slowly, nose to screen annnnnnnnnd
sniffffffffffffffffffffffffffffFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Go on, take in [...]

Misses E and M and a Celebrity Chef

In December a little invite dropped into my inbox

Now I’m no cook.  I know I should cook, but I’m a vegetarian single mum with one child who will occasionally eat what I eat, and another who is the Queen of Bland.  (Miss M I am talking about you), so the chance to see a real [...]

My kids are officially crafty

Just over a week ago, we were snowed in.  It was snowy.  There was snow.

For a week we went no further than our local shop where we procured important supplies such as milk, bread, spaghetti-hoops and chocolate.  School was closed, our car was buried and it was so cold we had to bubble-wrap our kitchen [...]

Does this make me a bad person ToysRUs

Why does this not make me a bad person?
Well because I am trying to help the lovely people at Zapf Creations by improving a classic design in a way that would mean my kids would be interested in this Baby Born Magic Feeding Girl Doll.
Why?
Well, Miss E is 10 and already has several Baby Borns [...]

I am away with the fairies.
Sometimes it’s quite nice here.   When I’m awake my brain feels more alert than it has done in such a long time.  I feel strong, hopeful, newly grown.
At other times it’s scary and odd and exhausting.  My centre of balance seems to have shifted and I don’t [...]

Ben 10 in pink? The mind boggles

Is it bad that Toys R Us have been my babysitter/childminder for the past few weeks?
Hmmmm, don’t answer that.
There are just two more days till I finally see my Doctor and ask her that question.  It’s been a hell of a few weeks and to be honest I possibly couldn’t have done it without the [...]

Can’t believe I’m blogging in a mosh pit

Having a wicked time at Splendour.  Terrorvision are hilarious, Ok Go were fab, The Leisure Society are fabulous and Athlete and the Noisettes were pretty cool too.  Shed Seven up next and finishing with a huowge slice of cheese in The Pet Shop Boys.
I love my mates.

Hadrian’s Walkers Attacked by Rabid Hamster

Ok, not actually true, but it made you read right?
Day 4 and we walked.
It hurt.
My toe is almost flayed.
I hurts.
Too tired to say anything else.
Except we bumped into Paul Daniels and his wife Debbie McGee and we shared a mars bar.
44 miles done, 30 left to do. Please sponsor me if you can. [...]

Worst Christmas Gift Ever

It’s never a good idea to send livestock by Royal Mail.
Socks?  Yes.
A book?  Perfect.
Turkish Delight and those yucky sugared almond things?  Well, if you must.
But an animal??

I knew there might be a problem when I read the words “Fully Vaccinated” on the lid, but I still didn’t truly expect there to be a living breathing [...]

To Wii or not to Wii…and Pictures of Nice Men

I’ve gone all posh.
No really.
I never thought it would happen, but I now have staff, a personal trainer to be exact!  He’s tall, pale, sort of interesting looking in a weirdly two dimensional way and he’s on call anytime I want him.  He’s polite, encouraging, fit (obviously), and he doesn’t poke me in my flabby [...]
